One thing i’ve noticed, i keep finding holes in my husband’s shirts afteR I wash them. I’m not sure exactly why, he’s had his shirts for about 10-12 years and they (were) in perfect condition before…and the tiny tears are in the same places on all his shirts. I’ve treid washing them inside out but still a few tears.
Based on a quick google search, it seems to be very common, esp among different makes and models of machines.Anybody else have this problem? what can be done to fix it?
if the machine is causing it, hand wash or wash it in a diff machine.
one trick that you can use is to put the shirt in a cotton cinch sack and then put that in the washing machine, it works fine, take it out of the sack when drying.
Can be beacuse of many things
washing machine (try to fix it out by setting the machine on washing for delicate fabric)
detergent you are using (try usng some other one)
Is it on any specific cloth (like cotton/ or old fabric like you have entioned 10-12 years old)?
Can be caused by some sall fish type worm in your wadrobe.
We had this problem on a couple of occasions a while ago; turned out to be the metal holes in the inside of the wahing machine drum had bent outwards - can be cuased by something attaching itself to the metal whilst washing like a zip etc...the metal was quite sharp if you consider how it would affect clothes. Easy solution; just gently 'hammered' the metal back.
If you have a front loader machine, ry running your hands aorund the inside of the drum; if this is the problem then your fingers will 'catch' on the metal.
Also, wires from underwired bra's can also cause this type of problem. It's best to wash them in one of those net washing bags to ensure they don't snag other clothes especially during the spin phase whilst washing
one more thing, if the holes are appearing around armholes it may be the deodorant doing a number on the fabric.
lastly, if the shirts are 10-12 years old, they have a finite life, maybe donate them to charity and get a few new ones.
No the holes are at the chest, at the bottom of the button area (they're all polo shirts).

Hmmmm, i dont think there are any settings for it..just the size of the load and how long to wash it (super hot 14 minutes, hot for 12 etc)...these are cotton teeshirts.
