US/NATO needs to control Afghan borders and not let the Fghan Talibs not run into Pakistan.
This is an ongoing discussion between Pakistan and USA.
Controlling "International borders" is mutual or shared responsibility. Since Fghan government only exists on paper, so USA has to give assurances to Pakistan about Afghan border.
