Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

FIH has moved the champions trophy which was due to be held at Lahore from Dec 1-9, 2007 due to security reasons over there.

For me this is unjustified and uncalled for. I will request Pak hockey lovers here to go to this website and record their protest on “contact us” at www.fihockey.org.

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

Please make it sticky!

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

Has anyone recorded his/her protest so far?

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

Thanks Mostar. I have registered my protest but with 6 top teams refusing to come to Pakistan the FIH had little option but to move the Champions Trophy to another country

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

So sad! Cricket freak nation.

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

I dont think Pakistanis protesting will do anything, its one nation versus 6 who dont want to play there.

cricket crazy nation has less to do with it than our militant psychos.

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

At least you say that the CT should be held in Dubai Sports City and not in India or Malaysia. Recently India played a game to force South Korea not to participate in the tournament.

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

yeah, but i doubt they will listen at this point

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

So said! Only 68 views so far. Even it could not match other threads over here despite being made sticky.

Karachi, Sep 20 (IANS) Unlike Australian hockey officials, the country’s cricketers feel quite safe in Pakistan and are enjoying their stay here, says the coach of the visiting ‘A’ team.
‘We have been in Pakistan for the past couple of weeks and never felt scared to be here,’ The News Thursday quoted Daryl Foster as saying.

‘You get a different impression of Pakistan but now that I have visited this country, I know it’s all wrong,’ he added.

Foster is in Pakistan with Australia A that lost a three-match one-day series against Pakistan A 0-3 earlier this month but leads the two-match Test series 1-0. The second Test began in Lahore Wednesday.

Cricket Australia decided to send the A squad though the country’s hockey officials decided to pull their team out of the Champions Trophy that was to be held in Lahore Dec 1-9.

This was after an advisory from the Australian government that sees Pakistan as a danger zone for its citizens.

Australia’s withdrawal from the elite six-nation tournament forced several other teams to follow suit, prompting the international hockey federation (FIH) to relocate the event.

Foster said he was surprised over the fuss.

‘It is really surprising for me. I don’t see any reason why any sports team shouldn’t travel to Pakistan,’ he maintained.

Foster was also impressed with the manner in which Pakistani youngsters had played in the one-day series against his team.

‘Some of the Pakistani young boys are really talented. The way they bat, bowl and field is marvellous. I’m sure some of them have a great future in international cricket,’ he felt.

Foster also praised Pakistan’s performance against Australia and Sri Lanka in two Group F games of the ongoing Twenty20 World Championships in South Africa.

‘Pakistan played superb cricket in both matches,’ he maintained.

‘The way Pakistan are playing I won’t be surprised if they went on to win the title,’ he maintained.

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

India will repeat history once again in Champions trophy final like they did in Nehru Cup final against Syria last month but this time Phante should be against our neighbour :cb:

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

But before that your team need to qualify for the CT. You are out of the December CT and as well as the next year CT as you poorly finished 3rd at Belgium’s Champions Challenge.

Re: Hockey lovers on GS - Urgent appeal

And do not forget the 7-1 phenti which our hockey team gave you back in 1982 in New Delhi - much to the frustration of Indra Ghandi then. I still remember her weeping face pictures in the newspaper.
