Is it just me or do these hockey players look very ‘cool’. I mean I am used to seeing Hanif, Samiullah, Akhtar Rasool and company but this new lot looks very ‘in’ and upto date. I think girls will start taking interest in hockey. That will be good for the game.

the reality is after the golden era of our hockey back in 1984 LA Olympic, most of our hockey players looked starving african tribemen. the new lot (the most recent one, last six months) has few educated, healthy looking players who probably are from decent urban families. Thats the impression I got from watching Azlan Shah.

There is a lot wrong with me in summers. I play cricket almost daily. It makes me look more kaala. And you know desi girls don't like kalloos. So, I hate summers.

I agree with Madhanee - there is no other sport that requires the fitness, strength, speed, balance, coordination, endurance and teamwork as ice hockey. Field hockey players (if they could stand up on skates) would only be strong and manly enough to bring water to the real athletes.

Both Madhanee (for sure) and Seminole (unsure) have never set foot in an ice rink and yet they are the experts on fitness of the players. Dudes, have you ever sprinted across a field hockey field for 70 minutes? okay, 35 minutes, okay 3.5 minutes? It's the most gruesome stamina sport after squash!

Wrong about the ice rink. And while I haven't run across a 'field hockey field', I have run on other fields, courts and roads. And so do athletes of many different sports. Marathon runners do it for a lot longer than 70 minutes. Sorry, but for athleticism and all the other attributes I mentioned, field hockey cannot remotely come close to ice hockey.
