Ho Mann Jahan!

Omg i watched this yday and LOVELOVELOVE.
Sheheryar Munawar is so cute/good-looking. He pulled off the young care-free, coming-of-age role SO WELL. Always been a fan of Adeel Hussain... he made me tear up in a few scenes.. he's got a very charming on-screen presence. Mahira was lovely to see on screen... but i defo felt like she needed more energy for this role and someone posted earlier.. her VJ days-energy/persona would have been perfect here. Still, she pulled it off well... enjoyed watching her.

The best part of the movie... the songs. swoon THIS is cinema guys.. i'm SO glad there was no Bollywood here... perfect family movie. Hope Pakistan continues to make films as good as this.

And the guest appearances were so cute lol loved the little bit with Syra Yusuf at the end.. her and Sheheryar Munawar looked adorbs together.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

Shehryaar ki tho kiya hei baa't hai.
I was telling royal gala - how there was a shot with Fawad Khan and Shehryaar and I felt like the screen was going to explode there was so much hottness there.

The movie itself was way to long so much could have been trimmed without losing any of the story line.

Pakistani movies have a problem with Character Developement.
Bin Roye - had zero development - they said TWO PEOPLE LOVE EACH OTHER BAAS>
This one was went one and one with back stories and emotions and blah blah blah.
Every ONE character had 3 story lines. Overkill.

And still I didn't buy the love story between Adeel and Mahira.
Adeel is just so ....... severe.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

hehe! Lol, waisai log miltai wahin hain jahan rehtai hain. mobile phone walon sai pooch lo agar kabhi kisi pakistani chat forum pai chat nahin kia. plz no more loser talk! i don't know azkar that well. so i am telling you, desire your location otherwise you are wrongdoing in films showing off your desires for another location's boys! and that too when it is obvious u r just a model and not an actress! stop it mahira!

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

I like Lahori boys too! :flower1:

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

i watched it and like it a lot too. To me it was a nice drama, but with a very fulfilling ending. The whole time i was trying to figure out which city this was filmed in or they were suppose to be.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

Mostly Karachi, and few scenes in Northern Pakistan.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

^seat belt in karachi???

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

I did not watch it yet, but what is wrong if showing seat buckle up in movie. :hmmm:

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

lol there is nothing wrong with putting on seat belts, BUT it added to my confusion regarding the city the movie was taking place in. As far as i know Islamabad is the only place where it is mandatory to have the seat belts on…

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

I thought wearing seatbelts would be mandatory everywhere? At least the driver and front passenger.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

Seat belts are also mandatory in Lahore.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

^ In case you are watching the movie with some high voltage angry guppi. J/k

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

Saw this movie on the first day -- the combination of Asim Reza, Mahira Khan and Shehryar Munawar along with the awesome soundtrack featuring Atif, Zoheb Hassan, Zeb Banagash and some fantastic folk pieces, raises the curiosity (and expectations) sky high. This was definitely one of those "event" films for me. It delivered what it promised -- a well-executed family-friendly film that charts the course of the lives of three friends and aspiring musicians. However, the narrative, along with the editing needed some serious work, but in all honesty these are really minor quibbles given that this quality and level of cinema was unfathomable even a few years ago. And then the standout moments were quite a few -- the Hamza cameo, Adeel's break down sequence, Jamal Shah's track (very real and relatable); performances were generally excellent throughout. However, Bushra Ansari brought in elements from the characters she's played on the various sitcoms and given that I'm not a fan of that kind of television, her act was a bit of an overkill and wrong-casting choice for me. Mahira's character and her choices were not very well crafted or positioned in the script i.e. her choice of suitors, her forgive-all attitude. It would have been refreshing to see her in a stronger, more independent avatar, but my inkling is that Asim had to give in to the sponsors (Coke, which doled out a few crores) for a candyfloss, all "dosti'd" ending. Sonia Jehan's act in films has always worked like flat coke for me, metaphorically speaking, her performance here was no different.
**
The bottomline: Watch this film, it makes for a great family night out flick, everyone WILL most definitely be able to relate with SOME thing in the movie, moreover, it's made with high taste and takes consideration of Pakistani audiences' sensibilities.**

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

rabia3983? does she even like movies? does she like boys? i do not think so. thus the talk of seat belts.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

LOL, yes i liked the movie and i mentioned that in the original post. The actor and actress were both beautiful but i knew that information before i even went to watch the movie and i expected people to know that as well.

The movie was well made, and very modernized, not the life of pakistan i am familiar with. Just my opinion.

Re: Ho Mann Jahan!

I'm glad that Pakistani film industry is discovering a sense of aesthetics. Script writing, story telling and other professional aspects of movie making will improve with time. But aesthetics are definitely there and that's a huge plus point.

What I really like about Mahira Khan movies that she is so successfully proving the point that you don't need to import Bollywood's chikni chameli culture to attract the audience and make good movies.
