http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadget.com/media/2013/01/hmv-lead.jpg BBC News is reporting that Hilco has been given control of troubled retailer HMV in an attempt to rescue it from the doldrums. The Polaroid rescuer already owns the Canadian business of the same name and has bought the company’s outstanding debts from Lloyds and the Royal Bank of Scotland – giving it effective ownership of HMV UK’s remaining assets. Record labels and film studios had previously voiced their support for the deal, which has announced that it’ll now accept gift vouchers in its stores.
