Hive, anyone?

Guys strange thought just occured to me,

What is the actual Urdu word for Hive?

I mean as in the Nest bees make, I know many of us just refer to it as Shaayd (honey) or as a Nest but whats the actul term or is there even such a term in the first place?

And no I dont intend to keep bees for honey or beeswax or anything like that though I might do in the near future

Never heard the term,

I have heard some refer it to as Sitha or Pakah.

Some call the inner piece a Kumb.

Hmm interesting maybe different regional dialects. :konfused:

It's Urdu. Shehad ka chatta or shehad ki makhi ka chatta.

Chatta, honey directely from hive is highly sugery and suger flows very slowly through throat, market one is mild one

aam bol chaal men to as Hareem Ji said, it’s called chhatta which is a Hindi word in it’s origin but extensively used in Urdu both in conversation and in writings. however, the REAL Urdu word would as it would be found in Urdu Poetry and Urdu Literature:

Ye zaroor Wali Dakani ke dor se pehle k Urdu literature main use huwa hoga. I’m sure Ghalib ko bhi iska pata nahin hoga :slight_smile:

My mamu used to have bee hives on his terrace when we were kids and wear tht white thingy tht covers the entire body and face and get honey from it.nani used to get so mad at him and his shauq:hehe:

I know about the Nahal due to Surah e Nahal. They call hive 'Maanaaro' in Sindhi :)

In my Dada’s house there were beir trees and frequently their were honey bees hives. They used to call a person when they thought its time to get honey. The person first used to get rid of the bees by fire smoke and then came the hive full of honey. Sometimes bees got angry and sting the person responsible for the destruction of their home. I heard that some time people can’t survive after bees stung them :frowning:
