Hitting the leather: Best strikers of the ball

So there’s always a thread about the “best” batsman of the 80s/90s/era/asia/world/ever/never and so on. How about one dedicated to the best strikers of the cricket ball?

This isn’t about grace or class. No elegance, no timing , no statistics .. just good ol’ testosterone here boys!

Some that instantly come to mind:

Clubbers:
(includes your neanderthals and those hitting from the meat of the bat).

Afridi, Symonds, Shoaib, Flintoff, Hayden, Jayasuriya

Swatters/Slashers:
(those slicing and cutting square of the wicket)

Sehwag, Michael Slater, Moin, Robin Smith

Good, clean hitting:
Viv Richards, Ponting, Inzamam, Chris Cairns, Abdul Razzaq, Robin Smith, (would prolly slot Jayasuriya in here too)

more?

err gilchrist????

Saeed Anwar.

Saeed Anwar for surE!:k:
i think nobody can play better square cuts then him

Imran Nazir.

Lance 'Zulu' Klusener.

:k:

Wasim Akram?

Azhar Mehmood, Andrew Symonds, Shoaib Malik, Styris among others r all gd hitters

Andrew Symonds

Lance Klusener

Saeed Anwar

Abdul Razzaq

Adam Gilchrist

Andy Blignaut

Wasim Akram

Chris Gayle

Sourav Gangully

The Game Responds:

*Lance Klusener. The guy is a freakin' "gainda"; who can forget his two boundaries in the last over of the 1999 semi final against Australia? I sure as hell never can. Abdul Razzaq should get an honorable mention as far as nowadays is concerned. People, That Is All.*

My vote goes to Lance "Zulu" Klusner, that guy is bad news for the opposition at any stage of the game.......

Andrew Symonds seems to have taken over from him..

Freddy "Bloodyaxe" Flintoff can also stake a claim, he is a bloody big hitter.

Chris Gayle is another......

Viru Shewag may be small package but his shots square of the wicket rival Jayasuria at his peak.

Too bad Afridi didnt have the technique to back up his wild swings or else he would have been for sure.

How can you guys forget

  • "Ijaj" Ahmed
  • Ajey Jadejiya
  • Flintoff
  • Tendulkar
