Panchi pai never in the history of by-elections, the government party ever lost in the past. Wining by yet another lota in by-elections is surprising and an eye opener for PML(N).

Dream Selling and luring youth with flashy slogans , let PTI be in Federal Govt for only 6 months and people will out in the streets with the same slogans in just 6 months because of the dangerous level he 've the set the bar of general public and youth expectations .

There is always a tremendous space to play in opposition field ..... jb hakoomat ati hai hath mai tau lg pta jata hai. I wish him to be PM one day then I see how he he will run Economy without WB , ADB , IMF etc and loans and financing for mega hydro , gas pipelines and energy projects !

PTI never promised quick turn around in anything other than reducing corruption, which is easily achievable, if the party has the will to do it. In developmental aspects, its PMLN that had promised the sun, moon and the stars (loadshedding 6 maheenay mein khatam, bullet train, etc), and in order to accomplish some of those unrealistic goals, they have drowned the country in debt that will take a very long time to remove.

Running the economy without WB is possible if the rich are taxed. PMLN and PPP dont tax the rich, becuase they themselves are a part of that group. Take a look at the revenue figures of KPK, and you will see the difference. Tax on rich landlords was increased 400%, and GST was reduced (fed govt did the opposite). Result is that KPK is able to sustain itself despite the fed govt owing it billions in arrears.

Sharifs have to think of a life beyond Raiwind, and establish a tradition of accountability (starting with self). Then people may start to take them seriously.

As for Hashmi, if he had exited PTI gracefully, noone would have bothered. But since he chose to spread lies, and make vengeful remarks, it was natural for voters to retaliate at the polling booth.

there is no columnist who understands multan politics better than Khalid masood khan … he is a local multani journalist and i value his comments a lot.

anyway, javed hashmi should have stayed away from PMLN for this by-election. Now i understand political necessities but if you ask me it was a mistake and i think he got desperate and hence let PMLN run his campaign. I still respect hashmi because in his long career he was never corrupt and went to jail so many times…no one is perfect but hashmi was a better one among our politicians.

On the other hand… there is not one single columnist including pro-PTI who wrote one nice thing about aamir dogar who was being supported by PTI. Apparently he and his family are extremely corrupt and they are some kind of mafia in multan region…it is a shame that in the end javed hashmi was defeated by a guy like aamir dogar…and i am not suprised at all that shah mahmood qureshi was supporting amair dogar..qureshi has no principles. he is a selfish politician.

one more thing....you can say all bad things about aamir dogar but in the end go talk to any multani and he will tell you that dogar and his family may be corrupt but they are there for the people to help them with thana kachari ... yes they are corrupt but they will stand up and go with people to help them with petty things...dogar has a famous dera in mutan which is active 24 hours....

when hashmi was riding that container in islamabad away from multann, dogar was managing his dera right there in multan and these things count a lot in our politics. People want to vote someone who will help with their daily nuisances.

what i am saying that while dogar may be corrupt but he was a fine electable candidate from pakistani politics standpoint ... that is precisely why shah mahmood qureshi put his hand on dogar because he knew he can win regardless of his bad background. and you need a lot of these type of electable candidates as well to win majority in Pakistan… so i am fine if PTI supported dogar to win the election but but please don’t call it inqilab or revolution…that is all. amair dogar, shah Qureshi and jamshed dastsie represent status queo not naya pakistan.

Janobi Punjab mein parties nahin shakhsiat key syasat hoti hey. Tareen jis bandey sey hara hey woh azad khara howa tha aor PPP, PTI aor yahan tuk keh PML N k logon ney bhi tareen ko support kia leekin tareen har gia keonkah yahi bhat thana kachahri mein sirf sadiq khan baloch ka nam chalta hay :cobra:

MULTAN: Federal Minister for Railways Khawaja Saad Rafiq on Monday declared veteran politician Javed Hashmi as ‘prisoner of conscience’ and defeat in one election cannot end his political career.

Talking to the newsmen after meeting with Javed Hashmi here at his residence, Saad Rafiq said that the fast bowler says that political career of Javed
Hashmi was over. But I want to tell him that one election defeat cannot end political career of a brave and courageous man like Javed Hashmi.

Referring to by-elections in Multan, Saad Rafiq said that a politician who changed loyalties had won that election but Imran Khan also lost the battle of principles because the candidate he had supported was part of the status quo.

He said that 100 politicians like Imran Khan and Shah Mehmood cannot be equal to a leader like Javed Hashmi.

Hashmi was a personal friend of mine well before we became politically attached, Saad Rafiq said. He recalled that they both had struggled against dictatorship and suffered jail hardships when Javed Hashmi was a central leader of the PML-N.

Saad Rafiq, however, said that he had one complaint that it becomes extremely hard to convince Javed Hashmi when he is determined to his stance.
Javed Hashmi is a prisoner of conscience and he would continue to raise his voice in accordance with his conscience, Saad said.

On this occasion, Makhdoom Javed Hashmi said that he may have lost a battle in by-elections but has won the war. Hashmi said that he had fought for democracy and returned triumphant adding that those who were opposing the ballot returned to vote when they supported his rival candidate in NA-149 by-elections. And the purpose of my struggle has been achieved, he added.
