History of Violence

WOW! An excellent film about a small diner owner in a small town in Indiana whose life takes a swing for the worse when he kills two robbers in self defence.

Tom Stall had the perfect life… until he became a hero.

Rated R for strong brutal violence, graphic sexuality, nudity, language and some drug use

Any takers?

Re: History of Violence

what's viggo's past? why is running from one-eyed ed harris?

My guess is that viggo was a CIA trained assasin who bothced a mission in Nicaragua. Ever since then, ed harris' been on viggo's trail.

Re: History of Violence

LI, I saw it last night. I don't want to spoil it for you but lemme tell you, Ed Harris is after Mortensen (Tom Stall or Joey Cusack) for a personal reson.

I think both Ed and Viggo have done Oscar stuff acting in this drama film.

Re: History of Violence

I've been waiting for this for months. Lo' and behold, my theatre is not getting it. I'll have to do some traveling.

It has been getting some unbelievable reviews, all of which saying this is one of the most graphically violent movies ever. Viggo said it was the best put-together movie he's ever worked on. That's coming from the star of The Lord of the Rings.

Re: History of Violence

the previews for this look amazing.

Re: History of Violence

It looked to be best movie of the year in previews, but is NOT.

The part with the asshole kid was plain stupid. Kid had horrible acting. The whole movie theater was laughing at how stupid that scene was.

It was important to include the conflict at school, but it was poorly written and terribly executed. It seemed like a bunch of completely out-of-touch old people got together and wrote up some scenes for how they imagine kids get into fights at school nowadays. I don't understand how the violent scenes were so effective and executed nearly flawlessly, yet they screwed up the school stuff so badly.

Re: History of Violence

Too much violence, but the acting was top notch. The last scene.. there is no spoken word, yet we know the family forgives him, that part was awesome, almost redeemed the movie of it's flaws.
