Human sacrifice has been practiced in various cultures throughout history with the Mayans and the Aztecs being most notorious for their ritual killings. Victims were typically ritually killed in a manner that was supposed to please or appease gods, the spirits or the deceased. Victims ranged from prisoners to infants to Vestal Virgins who suffered such fates as burning, beheading and being buried alive.
While this practice has become less common in developing worlds, it is actually still being practiced in the least developed areas of the world where traditional beliefs still persist.

There is material which says that Bible also at some places advocate such sacrifices.

Satti is not religiously backed and it was not for pleasing the gods IMO, but over the period it got misconception of religious ritual.
It can be covered under the category we are discussing anyhow.

Have you ever heard that whenever there used to be a big construction going on like dam or something like that...
few contractors used to sacrifice human life...so we were not allowed to go near such construction sites....
i heard lot of stories that how a school principal or a contractor killed a child and buried them in foundation of the building...
We still read news when some jadugar type people kill and sacrifice children for their jaadu..sometimes parents are also accomplice in such crimes
Re: History of Sacrifice
Yes I heard that and still know some persons (Muslims) who sprinkled animals (goat) blood in foundation of their homes ![]()

That was iPads autocorrect, jis word ko capital likhna ho wo Nahi houta doosre ho jatay hain, now see this Nahi's N became capital on it's own :(
