During the Independence movement, we see Mr Jinah and other Muslim League leaders in expensive suits, whereas on Indian side a simple personailty of Mahatma Gandhi is prominent.
After indepndendence, we observe the same situation. Pakistani rulers visiting other countries with big delegations on the expenses of national exchequer, whereas on Indian side most of the time, we see Mantris in Khaadi suit and hawai chappal.
Is this observation correct?
Did india sent huge delegations on the expense of nations money? Do India get a share of this show-off?
Those were the old golden days. The present crop of mayawatis and laallu-mulayam yadavs are as far from Gandhian simplicity as you can get. However simple they may dress, they are sitting on a huge mountain of public loot in their homes. Mayawati for example came from humble origins. Her father was a post office worker. Now her assets run into millions of dollars, with several properties to her name. the Earlier CBI filed a case against her for owning assets disproportionate to her known sources of income. Her party asserted that her income comes from gifts and small contributions made by party workers and supporters. If simple living and progress of her people were such a priority, she could have atleast used a portion of her “gifts and contributions” which exceeds 100 crores making her one of the country’s top tax payers for the good progress of her community. That is what separates an honest leader from a money grabbing politician. A leader puts his people before anything else. An Indian politician puts himself and his public loot before anything else.
The World Bank loaned India funds for development, and Mayawati was to manage projects with this money in UP.
