I just read yesterday that during Feroz Shah Tughlaq’s time, the hooves of horses were marked with burn signs (through fire) for identification purposes.

I think ladies would have discovered it, as inscribing names on the bowl for identification purpose as we used to do “katorebaazi”, katorebaazi means sending katoris of sabzis in each other’s house:D.
