i don't give a !@#$%^&*() about thanxgiving. so in that perspective i don't care about the history behind it. waise bhi, those who want to celebrate it will celebrate no matter how/when it started. past is past and you have to move on.
it was actually the jewish based celebrations ..and today ..Christmas is given not such importance as Thanksgiving....why ??? i already told you that...Us is run by zionists ..not Americans !!!!
but ..i damn care about anyones festivals..we have only 2 ..eids..thats all...rest all...my foot...
How is Thanksgiving a jewish-based celebration? DL, its really amusing how you can see a jewish conspiracy in absolutely anything!!
It started with the settlers of US, getting together with the indians after harvest time to give thanks for their bounty. Its a day for the citizens of this country to feast with family and friends, reflect upon our blessings and give thanks for them. A lovely day for sure.
^^ i ahve read in Synagogue of Satan ..that ..its a jewish ..i think...660 BC sort of festival...but they hide it...
So ya may also believe on this :

i am disappointed to see how everyone is simply fervent in their own take, yet, there is no factual analysis of history, development of a festive holiday, its food sharing form, specifically cutting up turkeys and the people who got affected - the historic massacres of native indians, what the pilgrims did or had to do to gain the powers that they have had or have; things like what good could come out of something bad that happened, are not at all thought provoking to anyone, but if thrown an idea or concept to discuss, people will jump their guns before anyone winks an eye, only own exclusive biased views are clung to, to get back at each other, instead of attempting an objective unpacking of something in which, today we are all in one way or another, as immigrants, engaged in and affected by.
As far as the origins of Thanksgiving - it is unfortunate that what happened on that day was basically followed by a systematic genocide, but we should learn from that and move on. It is important that we teach our children what really happened to the Native Americans, in order to prevent it from happening again, and I notice that more emphasis is placed on it in history classes now than when I was a child.
The idea behind the holiday is noble, and it is nice to take a day off to spend with family and friends and really count our blessings. I love receiving poems from my older kids and turkey hands from my youngest listing the things they are most thankful for.
P.S. - Just where is J.F. Canady? Did New York join Canada while I wasn't lookng? I'm sorry that I didn't get to see any naked people at the airport over the weekend - would have made our wait in line more interesting :)

best,

1- the specific pilgrims who had the feast with natives, were they the ones who attacked natives? did they have the intentions to attack the natives? while what happened to native americans intentionally i.e. war and unintelntionally i.e. deaths due to infections they had no immunity built againt, it was bad. But the gesture of people getting together to share a meal is noble.
2- they did not have turkey anyways.
3- you have an issue with "food sharing form specifically cutting up turkeys" ..well what are you suggesting, that the food be something that does not have to be cut up? what about mashing...does mashing potatoes also create some anguish for ya? or boiling corn?
