So the issue is about the person and not the medium? Books can be good or pathetic and so can movies. I saw the message and thought it was a fantastic movie.
Your fear seems to be centered around how the prophet would be shown, etc. So fine ..his times, early Muslims…the era from the eyes of an average joe… Errr jawwad…migration to medina, battles, victory… Building of a society..
These are events worth sharing, new media is just as important as old media..and when there are holograms and virtual reality… Let’s go for that too.
I know I am derailing the thread, but think about it. Books sits on shelf give you smile. You decide if you want to read it. Never you will ever buy a book from cheep writer.
But tv the other hand is very offensive in nature. It intrude you. While you are flipping a channel.
Most ill willed people can have you listen to their idea with you wanting it.
Times I accidentally read dirty lines in a book 3.
Times I accidentally saw such stuff on TV 90987676567 And I swear I hardly watch tv.
You are projecting your views of someone who reads a book vs watches TV indiscriminately on all people. Conversely I can project my opinion of the type of people who would oppose visual media but I will not
I can offer that a person who made time to watch cosmos with Sagan was more attuned to gain knowledge than someone reading thanda gosht, but that’s just my opinion.
My view is that people are people, some medium is preferred by some and not by others but that does not define their level of intellect or their interest in learning. Knowledge dies not only come from biographies or scientific journals.
I would actually maintain the opposite that just because it’s easier to. Insure, it may reach more people as well as different people, unless we want to limit it to just one group.
When it comes to places like Pakistan or Bangladesh or India where literacy level is low, do you have picture books then?
We can agree to disagree on this and get other views. Saying the same thing 10 different ways may not accomplish much at this point.
X2 you do have a point. It is simply a personal matter.
I have read Aakhri Chataan and have seen few episodes ( you can find them on YouTube). I have read other books by Great writer Naseem Hijaazi.
The visuals created by the mind of the reader can never be shown in a movie and at times it destroys the writer’s message or his/her creation altogether.
It is like someone trying to show the meaning of poetry in a video.
Anyhow these are different ways of bringing information to people.
Added: As an example I saw movie “Jackal” and had read the book. Not the same impression.
