Historical Romances

In 1936, King Edward VIII abdicated the British throne in order to marry American divorcée Wallis Simpson, over the objections of the British establishment, the governments of the Commonwealth, the royal family and the Church of England. The event is known as the abdication crisis. It was the first time in history that the British or English crown was surrendered entirely voluntarily.

What are other romances that changed the history or affected the events?

What are the other prominent pairs in History?

Re: Historical Romances

Henry VIII and his 'romance' with Anne Boleyn. He changed the religion of the whole country so he could divorce his first wife and marry the next 5 - which is how the Church of England came about

Re: Historical Romances

You forgot to mention Ashar-Khirad

On a serious note how these couples affected the history of world?

Re: Historical Romances

:konfused: bollywood movies.

anar kali and shehzada saleem :@:

Re: Historical Romances

You are rightly confused for Anarkali & Shahzada Saleem myth. Will discuss the originality of this myth on Valentine day.

Shahzada Saleem’s (Jehangir) affection for Mehr un Nisa (Noorjehan) did changed the history, where the power was effectively in hands of the queen.

Re: Historical Romances

How about Yahya Khan & Aqleem Akhtar (General Rani)

Re: Historical Romances

Shah Jahan and Mumtaz Mahal - and then came into existence the beautiful symbol of love - The Taj Mahal

I dnt know how it changed history though…it is one of the 7 wonders of the world…

Re: Historical Romances

So you want same type of lover
read it and then decide :cobra:

Did Shah Jahan really love Mumtaz?

One of my friends had messaged me the following which questioned the authenticity of Shah Jahan’s love for Mumtaz.

We know Taj Mahal as a symbol of Love. But the other lesser known facts:

  1. Mumtaz was Shajahan’s 4th wife out of his 7 wives.
  2. Shahjahan killed Mumtaz’s husband to marry her.
  3. Mumtaz died in her 14th delivery.
  4. He then married her sister.
Question arises, where the hell is the Love?

Now, this is how I choose to defend Shah Jahan’s eternal love for Mumtaz.

Doubt 1: Mumtaz was Shajahan’s 4th wife out of his 7 wives. Where is love?
Clarification: Shah Jahan built the Taj Mahal only for Mumtaz, his 4th wife. This is Love!

Doubt 2: Shahjahan killed Mumtaz’s husband to marry her. Where is Love?
Clarification: Shah Jahan loved Mumtaz so much that he killed her husband to get her. This is Love!

Doubt 3: Mumtaz died in her 14th delivery. Where is Love?
Clarification: Do you need any more proof of how much he actually loved her? :stuck_out_tongue:

Doubt 4: After Mumtaz’s death, Shah Jahan married her sister. Where is Love?
Clarification: Shah Jahan loved Mumtaz to such an extent that he married her sister in whom he saw Mumtaz’s reflection. This is Love!
:omg: :rotfl:

Re: Historical Romances

Sherry Rehman and Zardari

After So many years Zardari called her and appointed in USA. This is called True love :cobra:

Re: Historical Romances

I’ll come up with detailed analysis of other questions, but points 2 & 3 proves that Shahjahan ne na sirf mumtaz ke pehle husband ko marvaya, balke mumtaaz ki maut main bhi kaleedi kirdar ada kia.

Re: Historical Romances

I got this information.

[QUOTE]
Akleem Akhtar, otherwise known as General Rani, was a close friend and mistress of Gen Yahya Khan. She lovingly called Yahya Khan as Agha Jani. Due to her close association with Yahya Khan, she was known as General Rani. During that time, she was the most powerful person after the General himself. She held no official position, but she was given full protocol. She claimed that they were just friends.

She is the grandmother of leading pop stars Fakhre Alam and Adnan Sami. Her daughter Aroosa Alam (Fakhre Alam's mother) recently married to Indian politician, Amarinder Singh.
