Re: historical romances

Sharon Kay Penman, although they are not romances .... it is more or less historical fiction based on facts.

Margaret George is another great author. She wrote the Memoirs of Cleopatra, a massive book, over 1000 pages, but I greedily read it just under a week. It was so well written.

Sharon Kay Penman incorporates romance into her books. They are excellent!

If you want to read about a great love/hate relationship, read about Eleanor of Aquitaine's marriage with King Henry. Volatile and dramatic stuff. One book based on their romance is Time and Chance. The sequel is yet to come out.

Any of her books that deal with the Plantagenets are good. You will get your dose of romance, drama, history, etc. all in one go.

Re: historical romances

yes mehnaz ive heard of sharon penman.. never bothered to get my hands on any of her reads... ill definitely check at the library, i think im going to like it :)

Re: historical romances

I really LOVED Victoria Holt (who also wrote under the pseudonyms Jean Plaidy and Phillippa Carr) when I was younger.

And all of the King Arthur trilogies (Gillian Bradshow, and I can’t remember the names of the other authors now)

And I read Sharon Kay Penman too!! I totally forgot about her.

Re: historical romances

Oh yeah, I've read books by Jean Plaidy. Her trilogy on Catherine Medici ... WOW ... I just ordered my own set a few months ago. I will re-read it again soon. Great stuff! Also, her trilogy of Isabelle of Aragon is great too!

The very first book by Sharon Kay Penman I ever read was Here Be Dragons. Oh man, I was hooked from the get go. Although, I ended up reading all her books in the wrong order, they were still excellent.

Re: historical romances

I LOVED Here be Dragons. The name Llewellyn always reminds me...
