Historical romance… I guess I have always been fascinated by the possible romance between many historical figures.
I am intrigued by the Jodha Akbar story, but to be fare it does not come close to Laila Majnoo or any of the other classics… 
One modern interesting possible love affair was pertaining to Jinnah Sahib and many Indian Princesses though the facts of the matter remain quite obscure.

What about Heer and Ranjah and soni and mahiwaal :@: heard about them but don't know if any book written about them.

^ oh yeah such tales are always recounted in numerous books, Heer ranja was originally a poetic work by Waris Sha... not sure about Sohni Maiwal and Sussi Punoh. Though I am certain Mirza and Sahiba were also a poetic story... personally I am not a fan of tragic romance.
I like romance where the ending is not always happy but meaningfull... for example I was captivated by the Baiju Bawra story for some time.
I am also a keen follower of romantic legends of young men that died without finding or ever attaining true love as well as secret lovers... but such legends rarely have historic basis.
