Re: Historical Places of the Subcontinent
She stood there, namelessly, for God knows since when – right there in the wilderness along the coast of the Arabian Sea, wearing a royal robe and a hood. The wind whistled around her, teased her but she could not stop the winds as the fast blowing winds swept past her and blew dust around her. No one visited her and she felt extremely lonely. Her only companion in he area was a huge Sphinx of Giza, Egypt like feature who shared her loneliness.
Then one day she saw huge creatures, yellow in colour with black round objects making them move and cutting a way through the mountains. Then a black limning was put on the areas that were cut and leveled by the strange creatures that she hadn’t seen before. And then she saw people started to move in smaller creatures with speed on the black carpet spread near her. She saw one of the people stopping and looking at her with awe and wonder in his eyes. She was happy that she was finally found. More and more people started to visit her, staring at her and taking her photographs.
One day a tall woman flanked by others came all the way from Hollywood, started at her and then called her Princess of Hope. Suddenly from obscurity, she became famous and made headlines across the world. A blue board was erected on the road pointing towards her direction with her new name on it. The lady that gave her name was none other than Angelina Jolie, the famous Hollywood actress and the UN ambassador of goodwill.
The exact location of Princess of Hope is about 275 kilometers from Karachi.

Mysterious cave city of Sher-e-Roghan, also known as Gondrani
Near to Balochistan’s coastal city of Las Bela is the mysterious cave city of Sher-e-Roghan, also known as Gondrani.Local legend has mythical accounts of its founding but its thought this was a huge Buddhist monastery; Buddhism flourished here about a 1000 years back.At the time of the arrival of the British they were about 1500 caves but now hardly 500 remain. This site can be developed into a major tourist attraction if the government makes an effort.

More on Katas Raj temples
Katas Raj is also the place where Alberuni attempted to measure the circumference of the Earth, studied Sanskrit and wrote his renowned Kitab-ul-Hind (Book of Hind) which depicted the religion, scientific knowledge, and social customs of Hindus. Paras Nath Jogi drew his last breath on Katas. Jagat Guru Nanak Ji also visited the place on the 1st of Visakh. Katas came to be known as Nanaknawas and was a site of contemplation for many large groups of mystics, ascetics and jogis. According to Hindu beliefs, taking bath in the holy pond at the site washes away all sins and makes man innocent.

Historical City ‘Hund’.
Hund is located 97 km from Rawalpindi and is believed to be the ancient city pf Embolima founded by Alexander the Great. It was here that the exploration of the Indus River ordered by Darius and carried out by Skylax of Caryanda was started. Hund is also famous for being the birthplace of the celebrated Sanskrit grammarian, Panini. In the 7th century A.D., many Chinese pilgrims visited Hund, as it was a revered place for the Buddhists of the period. Later in its history, the Hindu Shahi Kings selected Hund as the capital of Gandhara because neighboring Kabul and Peshawar were under the power of the Afghan Ghazni Sultans. In the beginning of the 11th century, Sultan Mahmud of Ghazni conquered Hund. This once famous city is now in ruins, some of it washed away by floods. Among the remains numerous coins belonging to the Indo-Scythion and Hindu Shahi Rulers, jewellery and other articles of immense historical value have been found. Parts of the city walls still exist, remnants of this ancient capital.
As per some historians, the city was called ‘Ohind’ and considered to be the door of Hindustan. Its quite possible that this word, later became the origin of word ’ Hindustan’

Haveli Maan Singh - The only Hindu architecture in Rohtas Fort, Jehlum.
There are no palaces in the Rohtas Fort except for the structure built by Raja Maan Singh called the Haveli of Maan Singh ( Maan Singh Palace). It is built on the highest point of the fortress. Its not the original part of the fortress. On the whole this fort is built in Afghan-Persian style but the balconies have Hindu architecture and same balconies can be seen in Haveli Maan Singh.

Pathhar Girja - Alahabad
This cathedral is built in the 19th century in Gothic style, a style of architecture that flourished during the high and the late medieval period. The church was designed by Sir William Emerson, the eminent architect who designed the Victoria Memorial, Kolkata.
The cathedral houses exceptional stained-glass murals. Besides these murals, what makes the place more attractive is the intricate work and designs on the marble altar. The cathedral is also known as “Patthar Girija". One of the holy places in Allahabad, the cathedral is dedicated to all those who have deep faith in God. All Saint’s Cathedral is situated on the MG road.
