First major event I can remember is Princess Diana’s death. I have a vague recollection of going to put some flowers outside Buckingham Palace and watching her funeral on TV.
9/11 - I remember coming home from school and looking for the children’s programmes on TV but all I could find was news.
7/7 - Our school trip got cancelled cos of all the advice not to go to London that day and then I was worried about my uncle cos he was working in London.
Michael Jackson’s death - I remember texting all my friends that night and being quite upset cos I had some tickets to go see him two weeks later in concert.
Royal wedding and Diamond Jubilee - I was very annoyed I couldn’t go out to London cos of my uni exams and having to revise. Instead I watched everything on my laptop.
Olympics 2012 - Made the most of it this time with my volunteering and badge collecting. Also went to watch one of the Paralympic events and the Opening Ceremony rehearsal.
