It would be interesting to read the different historical events everyone has lived through. They could range from Michael Jackson’s death to 9/11 to the Royal wedding and so on.
So let’s start listing!

Re: Historical events you've lived through
Collapse of the Berlin Wall. The single most world-changing event I've seen.
Thanks to my dad I was a very politically aware 8 year old so I was able to enjoy and appreciate what it all actually meant and what the implication for the world would be.
Re: Historical events you've lived through
I was in Lahore on the day 9/11 happened. Was just watching TV (zapping through) when suddenly all the channels started showing images of the collapsing tower. Intially I seriously thought that these are special-effect scenes from a movie or something. Even after I realized that it had actually happened, it felt unreal. I had been on the top of the World Trade Center just one year prior to 9/11. In fact I still have those tickets from back then.
I became political aware during gulf war but I remember about collapse of burlin wall!

Re: Historical events you've lived through
I have lived through all the historic events since I was born.
And being born was one of them. :@:
Re: Historical events you've lived through
I think most probably the historical event that holds significance and that i've gone through would be my chachu getting the Nokia phone back in the mid 90s. Just because of that I was a popular kid in my mohallah. I was known as the "Kid whose chacho has a mobile phone". Ahh good times good times.
I would literally brag about how i played the snake game on his cell phone. And i would see my friend's eyes widen. Now thats historical.
Re: Historical events you've lived through
I am sure there are more.
Re: Historical events you've lived through
First major event I can remember is Princess Diana's death. I have a vague recollection of going to put some flowers outside Buckingham Palace and watching her funeral on TV.
9/11 - I remember coming home from school and looking for the children's programmes on TV but all I could find was news.
7/7 - Our school trip got cancelled cos of all the advice not to go to London that day and then I was worried about my uncle cos he was working in London.
Michael Jackson's death - I remember texting all my friends that night and being quite upset cos I had some tickets to go see him two weeks later in concert.
Royal wedding and Diamond Jubilee - I was very annoyed I couldn't go out to London cos of my uni exams and having to revise. Instead I watched everything on my laptop.
Olympics 2012 - Made the most of it this time with my volunteering and badge collecting. Also went to watch one of the Paralympic events and the Opening Ceremony rehearsal.

LOL @ Pendo… I too remember being in awe of little things like electric toothbrushes and light wale shoes! ![]()
Very interesting posts, everyone!
Re: Historical events you've lived through
The earliest historical event I remember was watching the funeral of John F. Kennedy on the TV. (When it says "senior member" under my nick, it must mean I'm a real buRhiya!)
The most affecting to me, were being in Bombay during the January 1993 pogrom, and 9/11.

Re: Historical events you've lived through
Living through the most significant war ever lost, with absolutely no proportionate balance of power, humiliating defeat of the most powerful army of the world, by the hands of a rag tag army... ironic
