Looks like he is not telling the whole story here. Because it was not just about drones. He also said that he was questioned about his being called a supporter of Taliban too.

Khan said that the U.S. officials also called him a ‘supporter of Taliban’ but he responded that he was not against the U.S., but opposes some of its policies.
Imran is trying to win both US and Taliban at the same time. To Taliban he pretends to be an enemy of US just like Taliban. But when in US he pretends to be with the US, and only disagreeing with SOME of its policies.
I am pretty sure that the guy is going to disappoint BOTH Taliban and the US. He can never have any major impact on the Taliban situation in the country.
