Anyone know of a directory or resource where I can find a list of desi entertainers for hire?

Primarily I’m looking for singers…

hmmmm none that I know of, your best bet is to search with city name and pakistani music etc. or talk to organizers of local events and see if they know anyone.

i remember i went to this wedding a while ago, and they had this gori lady singing noor jehan songs in punjabi...my dad loved it!!!! i think her name was janice miller....

yeah...janice miller I know....she's good.
But she's from Houston or Dallas....and I'm sorry...the budget will not allow for her airfare and accommodation.

She also has a great deal of nakhray. Had to deal with her for a couple of desi fund-raising events.

its just the friggin novelty that a gori is singing desi songs..
and desis just cant have enough of it..

besides she's in Lahore recording her latest album with Tafu.... so said my desi newspaper of the week..

Janice is a terrible singer (if you listen to her from that perspective). As someone said the only entertaining part (for some) is the fact that a gori 'gala phaaRing' like a jutty. You will be yawning after first 30 seconds.

Muzna, call Shahnawaz Restaurant, they have two member Karaoke group performs every Saturday night. They were good, bring their own equipments and will sing you anything from 90s till date on superb Karaoke music system.

Thanks smoothy. That's the kind of entertainment I'm looking for. Something local...light....karaoke.....nobody that is pushy and trying to "make it in the industry" for real.

We once hired the couple that used to sing at "Sholay" but since the restaurant closed down, we haven't been able to find them. Maybe it's the same people.

I will give Shahnawaz a call.

Afshi you are right...apparently Shahnawaz has closed down.....I haven't been but a colleague told me this.

don't feel bad...they make quite a bit.....besides...they are working for their money....good for them.

ya but it says the trend is changing as more people are into professional DJs and these guys are all dressed up waiting on the side walk for people to hire them and there are so many of them which is kind of sad :(
