Back home in Pakistan . I had a boss Mr. Khan a director of the company. He was very smart and well learned man. He and whole family were atheist. I could just hear him and other directors having discussions about religion , god , morality etc with other owner directors of the company. My room was next to the board room.
So Mr. Khans daughter was getting married and he was distributing invitation cards . It had details of the wedding day programs. One item was Nikkah ceremony.
Mr. Siddiqui another director who was good friend of Mr. Khan after reading the card asked him .
“Hey Mr. Khan you do not believe in Allah , Islam religion neither does you daughter , son ,wife so why are you having Nikah of this girl . Why can’t you just give your daughter away to this to be son in law of yours.”
Mr. Khan got very mad and agitated and I heard lots of shouting.
I do not know why was he mad ?
Can any atheist on these forums explain ?
On the similar note, a teenager friend of mine used to be atheist , once he got very sick and bed ridden. I went to see him and saw him praying to Allah for making him OK again.
Once he was OK he was back to be atheist. Why ?
Can any atheist on these forum explain this too ?

being an atheist, is also a religion. Its a strong belief that God does'nt exist.
IF you are not sure about God's existence (or non existence), you are not atheist. You are agnostic.
So atheist also have a faith (God does'nt exist), much like muslims or christians (God must exist). But even muslims and christians at times do things, that are hippocratical, but practiced because its comes from the culture.
Please do not assume that every atheist, will have enough knowledge about his faith, to debate you. Just like you cannot expect every muslim to know enough about Islam, to debate. So just enjoy the nikkah and eat biryani at waleema.

Because nikkah can be viewed as much a religious obligation, as a social custom. Marriage is a social custom, as well as a religious one. Not believing in God doesn't negate culture.
Marriage is a display of commitment. Nikkah provides the platform for that.

NIKAH IS A CONTRACT
And a very good contract even from secular point of view.
Just like secular world extract good thing from major religion and make it part of their law. So i dont think an athiest doing nikah (marriage contract) doing anything wrong at all.
Pakistani Nikah form is a very good document for marraige for anyone. It catter the needs of all the parties involved
I also believe that quranic procedure of divorce is best divorce procedure known to mankind. There is no better model possible. :k: It is most disgusting fact that most muslim dont follow it at all

MR.Siddiqui obviosly was baiting Mr.Khan. What has nikkah to do with Khan being an atheist?
Your teenage friend obviously found favor from God in spite of being. "Atheist" most times. So he obviously is doing something right, unless you think Allah is this gullible!

Nikkah nama or marriage licence is a legal document that you need as a couple. Besides in pakistan they need a nikkah nama to even hold hands in public.
