Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

Why did they side with Stalin’s Soviet Union for 50-years against America and the West?

Just don’t get it. :halo:

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

because Nehru and subsequent congress govt. believed in socialism.
But tell me why pakistanies are so much into china now days..:D

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

What do you mean by Stalin’s Soviet Union? Stalin died in 1954 the Stalin era ended with his death.

Further if you want to know why Indo-Soviet friendship flourished…because Soviet Union agreed to Rupee-Ruble trade without demanding for armed bases in India. The only condition the Soviet Union had that India must not agree to any kind of USA pressure. That’s all.

On the other hand USA was demanding a total surrender for any kind of help or trade in USD.

Now tell me why Pakistan agreed to all conditions of USA? Pakistan had no money, not to say of USD.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

Pig eaters that they are. Pakistanis love pig eaters.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

Pakistan was one of the first countries to recognise China. They established a special friendship in 1962.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

Interesting! Can you tell me when Pakistan did recognize China, date year etc??

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

… Beginning in Urdu then continuing in Chinese, the ambassador said three months after the Peoples Republic of China was created, Pakistan was among the first countries to recognise it and on May 21, 1951 diplomatic relations were established, which were the cornerstone of building a lasting friendship. “Today we celebrate together the anniversary of this historic occasion,” he said, adding that the friendship between both countries had withstood the ups and downs of changing times. “We understand each other; we trust each other; we help each other and our friendship has become an example of bilateral co-operation.”…

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

The main interest of the British to create Pakistan was to have a country which it can leverage against the Soviets. After their decline as the leading superpower, the US took the job of containing the Soviets.

Even though Nehru was a socialist, he was not alligned to the USSR. In fact he wanted India to be a non-aligned nation and not being sucked up in the power struggle of the two super powers at that time. But it all changed in the mid 50's when the US invited Pakistan into the CENTO and the SEATO to contain the Soviets. Now with the US supplying Pakistan with its weaponry, it became imperative for India to match the superior weapons of Pakistan.

Only the Soviets were willing to supply the Indians with their weapons and thus even though Indians were non-aligned by principle they became quite dependent on the Soviets and were seen as part of the Soviet camp.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

China is Pakistan's ally because it has a grudge against India. It still believes Arunachal Pradesh is part of China. Aksai Chin (Northwest Kashmir- won by the Sikhs from Tibet) which was conquered by China in 1962 and Arunachal Pradesh were once a part of Tibet.

China has a flimsy case of conquering Tibet. Their theory is that because a Tibetan prince once married a Chinese princess, Tibet belongs to China and everything that belonged to Tibet should belong to China. Thus the imperialistic communist which seeks territorial expansion is a ally of Pakistan. But I doubt a democratic China would choose Pakistan over India.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

^^ It's national interests and not the type of governments, dummy!

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

^ Right line of thinking, now go one step further. Even the Communist realize where their national interests lie and are now doing a balancing act with India-Pakistan.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

EDIT: Actually after reading your post # 10, I agree that Pakistan in a way did recognize China.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

^ That is too much. Apart from that, whatever you wrote makes sense even if it did not happen this way.

Re: Hindustanis have always loved pure democracies

^ What I meant was CENTO and SEATO were formed by the UK and US to contain the Soviets and Pakistan was made part of it.
