Hindus Bathe in Polluted Water

Hindus can be so uneducated sometimes, these people are so dirty, when they wake up and goto washroom, all the sewage water comes to this river, and after they clean up, they go and take a dip in this dirty water.

VARANASI, India (AP) – Every day, some 60,000 people bathe in India’s holiest river at its holiest city, their souls soaring in prayer to the rising sun, confident they will emerge pure and renewed.

Veer Bhadra Misra, the “mahant” or head priest at Varanasi’s centuries-old Sankat Mochan temple, shares their faith in the Ganges River’s powers of redemption.

But as a hydraulic engineer, Misra is also very aware the river is dangerously polluted with the tons of sewage poured into it every day by the very same Indians who worship it.

If acid rain starts falling over Mecca, do you suddenly stop worshipping there? Or do you have absolutely no respect to what a certain (large) group of people find holy to them?

Never heard of any health warning issued in Mecca for ACID RAIN as yet.

if you attack an opposing religion.. they will attack yours.

Furqan....bashing makes sense...but with a reason.

Water pollution exists everywhere and anywhere, not just ganges. All the rivers of the world draw sewage, but people bathe in them....perhaps not in such high numbers as the kumbh mela, but they do. All the oceans of the world are filled with oil slicks, green stuff, and what not.

Religious practices are personal business. Hindus can bathe in ganges if they want, regardless of how dirty the water maybe.

we will bathe in the holy ganges ,even if it is the soup of bacteria--'cos it is symbolic of our quest for eternal salvation.for all i know, mr.furquan will next issue a "fartwah" to end all "fartwah"s against us hindus.

P.S: you don't seem to appreciate religious fervour when it is about other religions.you are an insolent cad ,sir!

Preeti, I would give my life to defend your faith and feelings, but I would also stake the same life for any damage or distress to any fellow being: A lot of things have changed over the years. Smallpox was known as Mata (mother) then it was eradicated. Why not get Ganga Jamna back to its past glory and purity and stop polluting it?

I find it so ironic that the greatest congregation of Hindus is taking place in the city of Allah (Allahabad).
May be some hindu member throw light if the real name of Alllahabd was a hindu name.

Belief is not what mind possesses, it is what possesses the mind!

FurQan416,
We muslims should respect other faiths and convince them by good example rather than attacking other faiths and thats the path of Holy Faith. And there is no logic in religions but faith.

analyse it
"I find it so ironic that the greatest congregation of Hindus is taking place in the city of Allah (Allahabad).

Why should it be ironic ? I thought it should be fitting that a congregation of religious people take place in a city called Allahabad.

I believe its Hindu name was Prayag. It was later renamed during Emperor Akbar's time.

How is that "Fitting"?

You said its the city of God (Allah), right ?

So whats ironic in the fact that religious people congregate there ?

Well I meant Allah is not worshipped by Hindus but they celebrate their largest religious gathering in his(Allah's) city.
At any rate, it was to point out an interesting conflict.
Like going to a dinner party in your enemy's house. But it is just a figure of speech.
