Nice question, Evilmastermind, now if u have read my other posts, u will see that I am no scholar in the scriptures, Hinduism and Islam have opposite views to this,
Of course, there are examples of ppl claiming they remember thier past lives, there was a very widely publicised story of a Sri Lankan Soldier some yrs ago, and Ofcourse the Dalai Lama is the re-incarnation of his predecessors as shown in a documetary of Nat Geo channel
Truth is no one can confirm if we stay wid god or return, as no one speaks from beyond the grave...(unless of course u are of the side that claims only Islam gives the truth)
I have asked this question myself... according to my logic, or stupidity, I see the logic as
Everything on earth and nature is cyclic, the seasons, day and night, orbits of planets,the big bang and collapse of the universe: every thing
so even life and death should be cyclic so rebirth is only natural
May sound dumb, but thats how I feel, not b coz scriptures say so
