Re: Hinduism, Palm leaves.

Thanks for the acknowledge.
Well, its said for every person around the globe, there is a palm leaf....with info written in sanskrit in India.
Im just interested in knowing if its a part of hinduism beliefs or their astrology practice... etc. Just curious. I asked some of my Hindi speaking friends, but they couldnt tell much.

Re: Hinduism, Palm leaves.

i think i know what you are thinking of.

it is indian astrology, and astrologers used to write horoscopes in dried palm leaves in earlier days (now its in book form or on CDs :D). i dont think it is in sanskrit, it's usually in the native language.

typically, people who believe in such get their kid's birth time noted by the astrologer on the record (palm leaf), this is in a table form showing the position of various planets and constellations at the instance of birth from the place of birth.

later on in life, this record of initial positions is used to compute current predictions.

Re: Hinduism, Palm leaves.

This guy has been confused between reading 'palms' as in palmistry and palm leaves.

Palmistry is not unique to any one civilization.
