“Hinduism, as a faith, is vague, amorphous, many-sided, all things
to all men. It is hardly possible to define it, or indeed to say
definitely whether it is a religion or not, in the usual sense of
the word.” [Jawaharlal Nehru, The Discovery of India, New Delhi,
1983, p.75]
“The more Hinduism is considered, the more difficult it becomes to
define it in a single phrase… A Hindu may have any religious
belief or none.” [Percival Spear, India: A Modern History, Michigan,
1961, p.40]
“Frankly speaking, it is not possible to say definitely who is a
Hindu and what Hinduism is. These questions have been considered
again and again by eminent scholars, and so far no satisfactory
answer has been given.” [Swami Dharma Theertha, History of Hindu
Imperialism, Madras, 1992, p. 178]
Discussion/comments on Hinduism as a vague ideology, as proposed by some learned Hindu scholars themselves…???
I think Sweetpie is suffering from hotflashes and couldn't find a better source for her conversion literature than this garbage site. SP, don;t fight it, yu are reverting back to a hindu that you are. Repeat.."Om Bhur..bhuvay.."
^ sadzzz, you're wrong on that. Islam is very much an organized way of life, a faith with answers to any questions or queries, a faith that includes as well as excludes, a very practical religion that is sound, logical, and concrete.
If their own big guns leader Nehru could say that Hinduism is blurry and can't be defined....well then, I rest my case.

just cus their religion allows its people to pray in a church, masjid, temple.. doesnt mean its unorganised. Prob suggests, they're openminded

"open minded"...a very interesting choice of words to describe the Hindu faith...

If Nehru said the world was flat.. u'd believe him?

if u were to ask a hindu, they would also suggest that hinduism is a very organised and concrete religion

You say this but then at the same time you say who cares what Nehru says eventhough he is an influential HINDU leader. Hmmm, am I missing something here?

JInnah drank scotch like it was going out of style. What does that says about his faith.

There is a difference between not complying with your faith and saying your faith doesn't exist. Also unlike Nehru, Jinnah was not a role model for his faith.

Nehru was an agnostic. He called himself the last britisher to rule India. Though he was a born Hindu.

pray who appointed nehru as a role model for his faith?
why do u care anyway? are u trying to get back at matsui(or another mamber/members) or bashing hinduism? dont tell me u actually want a real discussion.
What's the fuss? The followers of most religions and spirituality in general is vague and egnimatic. All great philosopher rejects dogmatism. To me, religion is amorphous, many-sided, all things, difficult to define in a single phrase and hardly possible to define it. Maybe I'm Hindu! :Pagri:
