Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Well folks that finally settles it, a simple question that was asked 10 times, but it clear hinduism is just a set of spirtual beliefs.

Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
No religion is a complete system for everything in life, nor should it pretend to be. There is no possible model - economic, political, social - that can be a blue print for all people of all times. It is not feasible for a library full of books to do that, never mind from just one book.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
even if there is one why they should folllow ? dogmatic relgen only makes you prisoner of your own faith unable to adapt to new realities.
do you really follow dar-ul islam and dar-ul harb concept? you should not pre-select your enemies and consider one group as permanent enemy and carry the burden of perpetual enemity.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
AK 47, The universe started when Narayana, that is another name for Almighty God, created it in his dream, it is nothing but a divine play of his. The Universe as well as the souls in it are nothing but a part of Him, like drops of water that make up a ocean. We are living in Him and He in us. Souls get reborn in different forms not only humans, human form is very valuable because that means that, that soul has evolved into that stage where he is capable of getting a human form. It is the highest form of life and as a human we have the power of free will, which helps you to choose whether you want to live a life like an animal(worldly life is just like animal life with little sophistication) or do you really want to find who you are, who you where before you entered the earth and know your Creator. When by meditation or any number of methods are you able to Realize God, then you cease to take birth and become one with the Creator, that stage is described as one of perpetual bliss. Till then you keep on coming back to enjoy the fruits of your deed and the cumulative effects of all your deeds decides in what circumstances and where you are born and the gifts (physical, mental etc) that you get in this life. So there is equality for all and no one gets anything that he does not deserve.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Regarding beliefs of Hinduism, there are four ages, Satyuga (golden age), Dwapar Yuga (Second age), Treta Yuga (Third age) and Kali Yuga (Dark age or the great winter of consciousness). Right now we are in Kali Yuga (which is 430,000 years long) of which 5000 years are now over. After 5000 years of Kali Yuga a mini Golden age shall be seen on the earth for 10,000 years. And that golden period has officially started from 1900 A.D. Besides that we have a 24,000 year period where the earth moves in a 2000 year period of each sign. We have entered the 'Age of Aquarius' which shall last for 2000 years, it is also called the Great Feminine Age, where the Feminine power shall reach the Zenith and shall be prime force on the planet. So the planet will be very different in 4005 A.D.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Dear Surya, kindly tell something in shortcut.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Dear anjjan, that was the shortest shortcut I could take, Hinduism is very vast as you know.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Well written descriptions Surya. If you can, please write more about the charateristics of the yugas and also the churning of the ocean by the Devas and asuras - why was that necessary etc.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
For all those guys who found my reply too long, apologies. I was unaware that we had to write a 2 line crash course.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
No, Dear Surya, it was a little joke. You, please continue!
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Anjjan, I dare not. : ) On a side note though, I do not know how good the Age of Aquarius that started in the late 90's shall be, but the New Age music sure is good.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Hinduism is a set of spirtual beliefs why people sayng nothing else and it is an incorrect beleif because it is based on emotional belief that is why it is incorrect and prone to error.
Islam is the only deen that is complete way of life nothing else even comes close.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
^ that doesn't mean it is right. You could have a stupid way of life. A stupid way of life is no life.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
what the heck is emotional belief?
you have no idea what you’re saying.
we’re witnessing the fate of those who let everything in their life dictated by a religion instead of using their brains. one of them is running from cave to cave dragging a dialysis machine.
let me give you an example of how stupid what you’re saying is. you buy a computer from ibm. it comes with a manual that tells you how to use it. instead you look at Quron for instructions and get frustrated it doesn’t explain ctrl-alt-del! does that make Quron inferior to the IBM manual? using your line of fuddled non-think, that’d be the conclusion!
There is no such think as a complete way of life without the context of an individual.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
atlantis
if do not even know what is emotional belief i don't know what to say except buy a dictionary, and if all you can do is compare a computer to islam it shows your limited knowledge about islam and very shallow thinking indeed if you want to actually comment on islam research it properly before you show your immaturity on this subject.
Islam is not windows 98 it does'n need an upgrade it is relevant for all times.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
^ windows 98? you absolutely live in the past don't you?
BTW no dictionary will give you a meaning for 'emotional belief' - look it up kiddo.
Why the hell should anyone research islam to teach you some about Hinduism? if you lose focus like that, you will never learn anything useful. In fact that mighjt explain why you haven't.
Do you want to learn about Hinduism or not?
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Ak 47, I had the idea, that the code of law mentioned in Islam is nothing but the prevalent law of Arabia at that time and some borrowed from Judaism, like not eating pigs, eating halal (kosher) etc. Hinduism, differentiates the religious, with cultural and legal issues. When religion carries cultural and legal baggage, you may call it a complete way of life, but you are bound to get all messed up. So religious aspects like praying, meditating, fasting, helping others in Islam is definitely relevant for all times, but its legal and cultural codes are archaic.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
Ak, why you are bringing in Islam in this thread. Frankly if we reply, you have no tolrance to lissten anything negative of your tolerant religion.
Ok, Surya, I just thought of a question. Is hindu a tolerant religion? I have never come across a Hindu claiming it.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
What is the main source of intolerance in Abrahamic religions, when Jesus Christ or Prophet Mohammed, says that is there is only one God and I am the way to reach Him, it is when this is taken in the literal sense, it means that followers of this particular path shall reach God, while others are lesser mortals. Shri Krishna also says that in the Gita, but that means we can reach God through the ways suggested by Shri Krishna. If you look at the religious teachings in Gita, Bible, and Quran, they pretty much say the same things about how to live a righteous life and grow spiritually.
So the main tenet of Hinduism is whichever path you take, whatever you call it, as long as you live by the guidelines provided by all the enlightened souls that have passed through Earth, you shall achieve your goal. So a righteous Hindu alongwith a righteous Muslim, a righteous Christian and also a righteous atheist are all on the right path of freedom from bondage. Regarding your question, it is for others to decide how tolerant a religion is, you may claim something how much you may want, but ultimately actions speak louder than words.
It is highly ironic that the concept of religion has been twisted to this level, that it has become a tool of hate and murder instead of a tool of universal understanding and progress.
Re: Hinduism 101: A crash course in the ancient faith
OK, Does Hindu religion teach tolerance towards untouchables?
