"Hindu" versus "Muslim"

Are we really that different?

Here are some of the deleted messages from discussions on Kashmir, Pakistan and Ayodhya. It is painful to see how instead of engaging the “other”, we all seem to be hell-bent on enraging and insulting them, essentialising them … Do we have to be reduced to this?

Re: "Hindu" versus "Muslim"

actually all comes to tolerance, this is the mother of all crimes and unfortunately Muslims have been very intolerant since start despite all whatever is written about tolerance in Quran. Followers of other religions had the same problem as well but they are improving, lets see when will we do

Re: "Hindu" versus "Muslim"

From what i have seen, muslims are too tolerant and should be more aggressive Insha'ALLAH. It is actually the intolerance shown by the non muslims that should change Insha'ALLAH...

Re: “Hindu” versus “Muslim”

Agreed.

Re: "Hindu" versus "Muslim"

Bro it’s true that we shouldn’t adopt the ways of the Kuffâr and we need stop dancing to the beat of their drums and stop the self loathing apologetic attitude whilst we ourselves are the real victims (this behaviour stems from seeking the pleasure of the Kuffâr over the pleasure of Allâh Azza Wa Jalla) but we also shouldn't stoop to the level of the Kuffâr and persecute innocents, when our dear brothers in Islâm commit injustice due to lack of Deeni knowledge we should help them by stopping and correcting them instead of being in denial.

Ours (Islâm) is a middle path, it's practical so there's bravery and chivalry where suited but also benevolence where needed. I have seen so many Muslims even those claiming to be great scholars give into their whims instead of Islâm and end up following either one extreme or the other. God knows if the clerics who present a wrong interpretation of Islâm do it out of ignorance or they are foreign agents trying to destroy the beauty of Islâm.

Our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم and the early Believers went through so much hardship and persecution, they were disowned by their own families, murdered, beaten, dragged on burning sands, made to lie in the scorching desert sun and have big hot rocks placed on their chests, left to starve for years in a barren valley when they had to live off leaves, wood and earth but they forgot and forgave transgression against their own selves, they gave their lives for the honour of their religion (Allâh and His Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم) but when their own persons were wronged they forgave with gracious forgiveness so that the ignorant might be guided and saved.

A Kaafir old woman use to throw garbage on the blessed head of our holy Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم from top of her roof every time he walked past it, the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم would simply brush it off and carry on walking, this happened everyday, one day when she didn't do this he got worried about her well-being so he went into her house to ask about her health and found she was ill, upon seeing him she got really scared thinking he was there to get his own back but she was pleasantly surprised when he asked her how she was feeling and whether she needed any help with the housework, thereafter he would go to her house to do her housework and care for her and in the end she was so impressed by his lofty manners and forgiving attitude she embraced Islâm and was saved.

Another story I heard is about a time when our blessed Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم saw an old woman going somewhere with lots of luggage, he offered to help her with her luggage and inquired where she was going, she didn't know who the Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was so she told him she's heard about a soothsayer who bewitches people and they become his followers so she is trying to get as far away as possible from him, they carried on walking and when she got to where she wanted she told him to leave her there with the luggage, when he turned back she stopped him and asked him who he was so he introduced himself and straight away she regretted her decision and due to his beautiful manners she knew that the allegations again him were false and by the grace of Almighty Allâh she too embraced Islâm and was saved.

Or take the story of the people of Tâ'if when our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم went to invite them to Islâm, they beat him with rocks so much so that his blessed shoes were overflowing with his holy blood and at this time he turned to his Lord Allâh and prayed of his helplessness so the heavens were moved by his prayer and Allâh sent Angel Gabriel to his Beloved who said to him something along the lines of “if you wish these people will be crushed and buried under the mountains overlooking their valley” but our beloved Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم who is ‘Mercy to the Worlds’ pardoned them and asked that they be spared so that some of their offspring might worship God alone without ascribing partners to him.

Another time our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم was sat with his companions, a funeral procession of a Jew went past him so he stood up out of respect for the dead Jew saying “isn’t he also a human?”

Our blessed Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said "Whoever makes a snide comment to a Dhimmi (Protected Person: Non-Muslim citizen of the Islamic State) has earned Hell."

And he also said "He who hurts a Dhimmi (Protected Person: Non-Muslim citizen of the Islamic State) hurts me, and he who hurts me annoys Allâh."

He also is reported to have said “Whoever kills a Mu’âhid (member of a Kaafir nation which has a peace treaty with the Muslims) for no lawful reason will not smell the fragrance of Paradise.”

Our Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم forgave transgression against his own self, a Jewish woman presented him with poisoned mutton and he ate of it and got really ill but he stopped his companions from executing her and pardoned her intention to murder him.

The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم also said

“One who is deprived of gentleness is deprived of all good.”

“A Believer is not given to character assassination nor to harsh, foul language.”

“Try to maintain relations with those who want to cut relations, and treat well those who treat you badly, and speak the truth even against yourself.” The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم told his companions to be just, kind and dutiful to their Kaafir families in particular their mothers.

Islâm is a beautiful, balanced, realistic and practical religion, like I said it requires us to be stern when required (like when Jesus Christ عليه سلام is reported in the Bible to have got angry at the people for turning Allâh's House into a market place so he thrashed everything they were selling and drove them out) because Islaam is a practical way of life, it is a way of governance which seeks to establish the Kingdom of God on earth so it has to be practical and balanced to survive and be successful, it is not merely a once a week thing for getting a little high. We might not be able to comprehend certain aspects of it but that is not because of the imperfection of Islaam but rather because our feeble minds cannot comprehend the wisdom and are too enslaved to manmade concepts of right and wrong.

Re: "Hindu" versus "Muslim"

I guess you have not heard about hindu extremists, fanatics or muslim haters. This behaviour is condoned and supported by their religious leaders too.

Re: "Hindu" versus "Muslim"

Jazakh'ALLAH khair for the hadiths smurf dear! Truely beautiful...
