In Gujarat, mobs numbering in the thousands roamed the streets, armed with weapons and explosive, and with lists of Muslim homes and businesses, shouting “Pakistan jao ya qabarustan jao.” That never happened in Kashmir. In some cities, loudspeakers played tapes of mobs shouting “Maaro! Kaato! Baalo!” [Kill! Hack! Burn!] all night long. That never happened in Kashmir.
State government agencies handed over voter registration files and ration card records to the rioting mobs, so they could more efficiently target and massacre Muslims. That never happened in Kashmir. Terrified Muslim civilians, fleeing their homes, begged the police for help, and were told “we have no orders to save you,” and forced them back into the path of the murderous Hindu mobs. That never happened in Kashmir. In many cases, the police themselves joined in the rape, pillage, and murder of Muslim civilians. That only happened to pro-independence Pandits in Kashmir.
Ultimately, over 150,000 Gujarati Muslims were internally displaced; years later, tens of thousands were still living in squalor in refugee camps after their villages were proudly declared “Muslim flee.” Those who did manage to return now live in walled off ghettoes.
I don’t know whether its hypocrisy, blindness, bigotry, or just plain stupidity that plagues the Indian people.

As for Gujarat Muslims, they are still living in their homes in Gujarat and prospering.
