Is there any Hindu sects where idols are not worshipped?

useof word 'sect' is incorrect.

Among Hindus many do not pray any idol. they beleive in meditation towards total universe.
Arraysamaj school of Hindus is against idol worshipping.

Jainism an offshoot of Hindusim has a sect which does not do idol worship.

Arya Samaj started in 1875 by Dayanand Saraswati also dont do idol worship.

I am not sure about Sikhism if it is a Hindu sect and they don’t worship idols .

Sikhism is based on Hinduism, but is considered a separate religion.

It is difficult to say what is idol. Christian's pray to Jesus and Mary statue offer flowers and candles. They flock to statues where Mary weeps. I have seen Sikhs praying to pictures of Guru Nanak and offering langar. Buddhists offer incense sticks, pray to Buddha's statues. So it is all symbolism to concentrate to the higher supreme.

I think you can do what you want; you can create a trend of not using idols (As long as you have followers). Trust me Hindus don’t define rules.
You do something good to humanity and poor people ,you will achieve a greater Position in Hindu culture like Sai baba ,Mother Theresa and Anibisent.

Hindus dont only worship idols. Idols are there just a representation. as per the beliefs, god is every where, be it dust or diamond.
and since ages paintings(now prints) and statues were used to symbolise somebody , so the same concept follwoed in depicting the god.

Basically hinduism considers nature as god. sun, earch, water etc.

hinduism is more a culture than a religion.
so you dont have to worship idols to be a full fledged hindu. there are lots of temples who dont have idols.
