Fear over Kumbh mela in Gujarat
Apprehending that the Shabri Kumbh mela to be organised in Dang, Gujarat, would turn into yet another Godhra, the All India Christian Council (AICC) and the All India Confederation of SC/ST Organisations demanded the Union Government to intervene and supervise the event to maintain law and order in the district. In a statement issued jointly with Marumalarchi Muslim League (MML), they alleged that the Kumbh mela was a “concoction of the Sangh Parivar, in the absence of a traditional venues other than Nasik, Ujjain, Allahabad and Haridwar.**” In the run up the festival, there were hate literature and other intimidatory tactics being used by the saffron outfits, including Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bajrang Dal and Vanvasi Kalyan Parishad to terrorise the tribals. “They also talk about Ghar Vapsi (reconversion of tribals to Hinduism) when they were never Hindus in the first place,” charged Rev. Joseph D’Souza, president of the AICC, at a press meet organised here on Saturday. He warned that if the Union Home Ministry failed to contain this, the issue would snowball into another “Ayodhya, this time against Christians.” **The organisations, he said, submitted a document containing the alleged hate literature that was in circulation and photographs of the huts of the Hindu tribals sporting a saffron flag, which they argued was to identify non-Hindus in the event of a communal skirmish. But nothing was forthcoming except the verbal assurance, said the organisations. The district has a population of little below two lakh whereas the mela is expected to draw a crowd of over five lakh. This has left the tribals petrified, said Joseph. “The Narendra Modi government is actively supporting this and has extended financial assistance to the mela. If anything untoward happens, everyone will be held responsible,” he warned. The organisation also demanded the sacking of Gujarat Government. The AICC is organising press meets in the “secular bases” across the country, besides holding protest rally in New Delhi on January 27 in this regard.

Whereas on the one hand, consumerism is on the rise and on the other life of the ordinary men is becoming more and more insecure. The surprise attack on a group of Christians, attending a prayer meeting in Govindpura locality of Bhopal, shows that the miscreants had some grudges against the members of the community and in order to settle scores they attacked them. Six persons are learnt to have received serious injuries. The Congress party leaders along with other organisations have condemned the dastardly attack on the people and called for immediate arrest of the accused. It is said the youth are being misled on the question of conversion and resorting to unwanton attacks. It is high time the Bharatiya Janata Party government comes out clearly on such issues so that the misunderstanding among a section of the party workers is cleared. A community may suffer a great harm due to wrong propaganda against it. In Gujarat too, members of the Christian community came under attacks. Today there is urgent need for diverting the attention of the youth towards constructive activities. In absence of proper employment, there are many wrong goals set and the youth instigated to carry out illegal activities. It is hoped the Government realises the gravity of such attacks on members of any community. The government must arrest those spreading disharmony in the society as also those who take law into their hands. A tree is known by its fruits. It is the bounden duty of any government to ensure security for all sections of the people. The government should protect people from not only attacks by robbers as in Patna and elsewhere but also be wary of the elements spreading hatred in the society by adverse propaganda arising from jealousy and weakness.

I countered mass rape and mass murder being attributed to Hindu religion in general based on incidents. Since there are enough evidence in every religion where crimes have been done in name of religion..

Buddy get a life. Do u ever understand that if Hindus had determine to finish off the minorities then they would have done it the day pakistan was created. Its a tribute to the secular Indian that the minorities in India are patriotic not leaving the country and helping in the development of the country.
BJP didnt come to the power on the basis of Hindu nationalism or on top of babri masjid. They didnt even have 22% of the vote. They came with their allies to give a free and fair governance. Hindu nationalism is highly misunderstood terminology. If RSS ever stand in election they will not even get their deposit back. The BJP and all these so called hindu nationalist strength lies in the perception of the people that the opposition or the govt now gives too much leaverage and importance to the minorities. They came on the basis of equal oppertunity.
Yes people like Modi were able to come up using such fear, and were able to exploit such sentiments for their political cause. But I hope that soon he will be thrown out of office.

Go check books of darbari writers of mughal emperors u will lose count of how many temples they destroyed and mosque they built on its ruins.. babri mosque was one such and u guys keep harping as if grave injustice was done....... they just restored one out of lakhs of temples destroyed.... i told u whenver it comes to tolerance injustice noone comes even close to islamists.............
talking of intimading festival reminds me of that muharram where people play with fatal arms hurting themselves and more often than not others too and playing with those swords and what not.. does it ring any bell.. how about that bakara eid where maulana saheb goes around ith sword in his hand butchering animals on everyone's door step these events surely don't shout peace tranquility do they............

nothing has happened yet and look at the sorry state of affairs, that in India when they want to do mass celbration on anything Hinduism its treated as threatening minorities.
Even if this is a grih vapasi and its done without force, the way Christian convererted these Hindus without force (??) for years, than what's wrong with that.........
