Re: "Hindu" Are Not "Infidel"

It is about the word 'hindu'. I think those who live in 'Hinduistan' are called 'Hindus' and it definitely doesn't mean 'infidel'.

Re: "Hindu" Are Not "Infidel"

according to Islam, Hindus are Mushriks and not Kaafir. Kaafir is the one who does kufr and kufr literally means someone who is not thankful, who does not accept God and His commands, who is stubborn in his thoughts/beliefs, who sticks to a point like the Kuffar of Mekkah.

this is my personal opinion.

Re: “Hindu” Are Not “Infidel”

I don’t think it is according to “Islam” :nahi:

The word *Hindu is derived (through Persian) from the Sanskrit word *Sindhu, the historic local name for the Indus River in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent (modern day Pakistan and Northern India).[SUP][2]](Hindus - Wikipedia)[/SUP][SUP][a]](Hindus - Wikipedia)[/SUP] According to Gavin Flood, “The actual term *Hindu first occurs as a Persian geographical term for the people who lived beyond the river Indus (Sanskrit: *Sindhu)”.[SUP][2]](Hindus - Wikipedia)[/SUP] The term *Hindu then was a geographical term and did not refer to a religion.

*****The term *Hindu was later used occasionally in some Sanskrit texts such as the later Rajataranginis of Kashmir (Hinduka, c. 1450) and some 16th- to 18th-century Bengali Gaudiya Vaishnava texts including *Chaitanya Charitamrita and *Chaitanya Bhagavata. It was usually used to contrast Hindus with Yavanas or Mlecchas.[SUP][6]](Hindus - Wikipedia)[/SUP] It was only towards the end of the 18th century that European merchants and colonists began to refer to the followers of Indian religions collectively as *Hindus. The term *Hinduism was introduced into the English language in the 19th century to denote the religious, philosophical, and cultural traditions native to India.

Another link

Jamiat Ulma-e-hind issued a fatwa that India is darul aman where Jihad is meaningless. Please note these fatwas and declarations were issued after they were “urged” by VHP.

How about similar fatwa in Pakistan??
