The answer of 62 Punjab regiment is in the first few lines of the article that you posted yesterday. 62 Punjab regiment was formed as a part of madras army, Punjab was not under the control of the Brits until 1849 whereas tipu sultan was killed in 1799. By 1857 there were not many punjabis in the British army. During the 1900’s british coined the terminology of martial classes, thats when they started recruiting from north Punjab, Pashtuns, Sikhs etc.

How do you know that? It does not matter that they were fist part of another regiment. But later they were given name as 62nd Punjabi and it does not mean that they did participate in war of Mysur. Even in 1857 ki Jang-e-Azadi, Punjabi soldiers were used to genocide old people, women and children in Jarhan wala Bagh. You need to read history.
