i would have voted for bush. but unfortunately he is not allowed to run for a 3rd term. why can’t he *****-slap the constitution and amend it to make himself eligible to be president for the 3rd time? its not fair to the american public that they cannot vote for their lovely and cuddly president. a president who brought economical boom along with many other booms including security and safety. american public highly deserves another dose of mr bush if nothing else.
US long-term policies are already outlined by Congress and other big dogs. No matter who the next president is, they wouldn't have much power and will do what they are asked to do. Pakistan is screwed either way. Being an American Pakistani, I would vote for what's best for the US. Those who may attack me and say how dare I not think about people in Pakistan, well, I am being realistic. If we all really cared about Pakistan, we wouldn't be sitting abroad and watch Pakistan on TV.
I agree with your choice but not the rationale
my rationale is that this is my home I have to worry about my home first before worrying about other places
lahori bhai...i take it you must not care about health coverage, education for your children, taxes etc (list goes on and on)....or what's best for you, your children, your future in the long run?
It doesnt seem to me that you plan on staying here in the US for the long term ....am I right? If you were then whats going on here domestically WOULD be first and foremost.....no?

I care more about the prosperity, well-being and strategic interests of Pakistan. I can live with a bit of hardship in the US as long as it benefits Pakistan
Even most jewish americans don't care about what's good or bad for America and will instead endorse a candidate that is good for Israel

They don't "care" about Pakistan. As I said in my previous post, as American Pakistanis, this (USA) is our home and we should be worried about the situation HERE. If you (in general) care so much about Pakistan, you shouldn't be in the US working for US economy. You can do hard work anywhere, why not work hard in Pakistan and work for that country if you are so concerned about Pakistan? We chose to come to the US, it is like betraying the country if you live here but think what's best for Pakistan.
Ron Paul might be advertising himself to be a revolutionary and a modern conservative, but really he's not any different from the rest of the Republicans. His principles are the same. He voted for the Authorization for Use of Military Force against Terrorists (giving the Pres. the power to direct the Armed Forces agaist anyone he determined responsible in any way for 9/11).

Jews live in all parts of the world but always try to do what is best for Israel and try to promote the interests of Israel. Jews may not carry the flag of the country they reside in but they always hold the flag of Israel. Pakistanis living abroad in the diaspora need to do the same and help Pakistan in every way they can.
I can live in the USA but still try to do what is best for Pakistan. Infact lots of more Pakistanis need to immigrate to USA because power lies in numbers and Pakistanis can effectively lobby for the interests of Pakistan in Washington just like the indians do.
In a hypothetical situation, i would even vote for David Duke and the Ku Klux klan if it was good for Pakistan :D
