Sarah we shun them because its just not ethical according to religous standards or societal. Well, we can debate on the societal standards because they change so frequently but i'm sure that ANY religion (FROM THE PEOPLE OF THE BOOK--> Judaism, Christianity and Islam) states that it was ADAM and EVE, not Adam and ughh Steve.
Natural way of life is to populate the earth one man cannot impregnate another and neither a woman can do that to another female.
Fags, Homosexuals, pillow munchers whatever you like to call them. They were shunned down at the time of Hazrat Lut (A.S.), their entire nation was destroyed with a swift thrust of Allah's hand. That was for a reason.
Sarah, you really think we would be here if the concept of homosexuality was allowed in the 3 religions? For all we know that if homosexuality was allowed then it would very well be the end of civilization. Civilization meaning the population of earth.
I am not going to refer to the new testaments because those have been revised by man and not our creator. You should know that there are a LOT of contradictions in the revised editions if studied carefully.
Being open minded is one thing but being ignorant to what is morally ethically naturally religiously right on this god given planet is just ridiculously insane.
I for one do not promote drag queens/homosexuality and do not like them for their sexual preference regardless of how good they are or how smart they can be and at any given point will not stand for such behaviour.
If your argument is thats the way they were built they couldn't help but feel that way. Then I'm sorry those people have to get a mindset on what is right and wrong and ask the creator to guide them in the path that he has decreed to be just.

Most of them are actually hermaphrodites. I never did understand why and how they get wind of a marriage or other events, where they come and extort money. It is such a strange phenomenon.

Factually speaking, some comments here are wrong. Hijjras are not Homosexuals.
The "hijrras" are transexuals. Most of them are born that way. And if any normal family has a baby with deformed sexual organs or both organs (whatever), these groups of hijrras approach the parents to give the baby to them. In most cases, the parents of such a baby gladly give up the baby, in some cases they don't.
These hijrras also double as prostitutes. And are shunned because of their vulgar and often objectionable life-style.
Although in olden days, these type of transexuals were parts of the royal household and were close confidantes of kings and queens.

In the process of evolution, sometimes variations in species occur which are of no consequence. Hence, neither do they die out, nor do they prolificate. That means, these genes are neither good nor bad for survival in the given environment. Hence they linger in the population in small numbers. They are the result of mutations and therefore, deserve the same respect as all other living matter. I've intentionally tried to keep religion out of this scientific explanation.
All I will add as a personal note , is that since God has created everything, then all mutations are his handiwork and are part of his grand design, even if we are incapable of understanding his purpose.
