should not this be in health and fitness ?
Wikipedia links says that it's a prescribed method of Prophet (saw). May be due to the religious connotations, bao bihari posted it in religion? Not sure.
Regarding the actual topic, this was something new to me. Never heard/saw/experienced it. From the pictures on Wiki, it looks scary :(
Do the red dots go away or remain there for life as scars?
Jinx got it right. Many of us do not know that this is a prescribed method, there are numerious fazail attached with this hijama. If any one has time do read the book of Dr amjad sahib, he was famous Allopathic doctor of karachi, now a very vocal advocate of this mode.
I know many patients who got shifa through hijama when allopathic and homeopaths said there is no way they can survive.
They disappear in 2/3 days maximum.
I can tell you about Pakistan, dont know about other countries.
My mom is recently doing it. The procedure told me is like that: The man/lady who do Hijama on patient is first of all, mark on the body by injecting the nail, than he/she burns a paper of piece in the plastic glass. The glass become hot than he/she place at the body where he/she injected. The plastic glass stick on body and there is no air (and works like vaccume). The blood (dirty) comes out and this is how they cure patient by repeatedly doing it placing at diferent place on body. The marks vanish once it done.
Lastly, that man/lady who do hijama assure that if you don't feel healthy then your all fee will be returned to you.
^ According to Dr Amjad method given below is more preferred.
The man first placed hot glass over the area, the spot become reddish then he removed this glass and made gentle cuts on the reddish area, after that he repeated the first step. Excess blood drips out in the glass.
