Um....Barbie.....I was joking around with Rizla....tying to freak him out/making him paranoid about going to hell. I wasn't in earnest about anything in the above statement you've quoted. I've nothing against hijabans (I know you wear one)...and while I'm not a fan of beards...I have nothing against those who sport one. I thought it'd be clear that I was kidding, but I guess not. Hope I've clarified the matter.

I don't want this to thread to turn out to be a defensive discussion of hijabis vs. non-hijabis. I wasn't picking on any group of people in my first post in the thread. The only point that I was discussing was inconsistencies/contradictions in dressing and comments/views, etc. And I know that we all make contradictions, nobody is perfect.

The most important aspect about Hijab is that it gets every damn person in the room creating a bunch in their panties. Its a freaking piece of cloth. You cover your head? yay! :rolleyes: You don’t? yay! :rolleyes: Its not that big an issue.

RV, I wasn't being defensive, post #21 is the only serious post I've made in this thread so I'm not at all interested in hijabi discussions. Thank you for clarifying.

i think modesty(haya) is very important if we wear hijab. Lowering the gaze and having decent intentions are very important............hijab is part of hayaa & in my opinion hijab is an "outergarment" for modesty.......... the headscarf is very important, Allah has ordered Muslim women to cover their heads in the Qur'an and do Hijaab...

those who wear hijab for wrong reasons should not do this as they are insulting the hijaab. hijab should be worn with right intentions :) .......

& at the end of the day people just do whatever they find best so no questions over that :) ........

At redvelvet you have made a very interesting debate, at the end of the day my take is that so long as whatever design of Hijab conforms with the Islamic standards then it should be acceptable...

the rest is personall preference. Afterall we all wear due to neccesity but some may design extra's for luxury it is all about personal preference.

Notice :

People generally mix up meaning of words due to general perception and understanding.

Hijaab is a arabic word with various meanings.

Hijab means a concept of covering up, modesty. There are lots of ways and individual assessment as per understanding of this concept.

Hijab is a name of clothing article, mostly used by muslim women.

This topic is about 2nd meaning of this word.

Here is another example of similar word which has two distinct meanings

Azkar

Azkar means recitation, calling someone with good names/ attributes etc. i.e Mehfil-e-Azkar , Fazail-e-Azkar. All good things attached with this practice.

Azkar is a name of person who owns these pages.

If I say :

‘Lets invite some ladies in the house for Azkar’

Clearly it is the first meaning of this word.

I know Mr. Azkar is a humble and nice fellow and he does not pay me for clarifications. :chai:

So mixing up two different meanings is not good idea.
