^ No, practising the hijab doesn't mean wearing a veil. Hijab doesn't even translate to a veil. Hijab is simply a code of modest practices prescribed for both men and women. It doesn't just include guidelines on how to dress, hijab also includes things like lowering your gaze, refraining from adultery/fornication/other immoral practices, pardah of thoughts, not moving in a vulgar way, not flaunting your beauty except for "which is apparent" which to me includes the face so it is not mandatory to cover the face so it isn't a big deal if a paranoid country wants to ban the niqab/face-covering for security reasons or just for political success. A ban on "khimar" (translated as a covering for head, neck and chest by scholars), however, is what I would oppose because (1) it is mandatory as far as I understand from my interpretation of the Quran and (2) there's no valid reason to ban it, it doesn't pose a security threat of any sort. At the end of the day, it is a non-muslim country so if certain rules of theirs aren't in complete agreement with your Islamic values, it isn't surprising or unexpected.

I was thinking the same thing , if majority of Kiwis do not want a ban but this survey says otherwise will it not be against the will of the majority of the citizens of that country ?

there was this scam of a site…having some petition to nominate edhi… nobel people don’t give a ****t about how many people petition (especially online)…and here…everyone was jumping around …
