Oh, Ok, You mean it is enough to cover her head and there is no need to wear a robe, If she wears tights and cover her head, would that be allright? Why covering head is so important? I would say to Her that she shoud use her head NOT cover it.

sher, i appreciate the advice but ur being an ass. you're making too many assumptions. and you know when you assume you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me" :)...seriously though....i havent' started hijab yet, but i just want to prepare myself for when i do (very soon inshallah). I don't wear a robe at all. Also, clothing is not really the problem...sweats, baggy teeshirt, there ya go...its just covering the hair that's a thing. I might have to get a separate hijab...hey..Nike should make a hijab!! lol
...right now i use the gym at my college. It's pretty decent, and they have "womens-only" hours in the fall and the spring semesters. However, the new hours haven't been announced yet, and im guessing that they won't go well with my schedule. i only use the treadmill anyway. yeah so where was i? ....i don't wear tights, ever..ew
I have worn dupatta to the gym many times. I go to an all women's gym, and I have seen hijabi's there as well. You just have to make sure its secure. With the dupatta I simply make a knot in the back, where the two ends hang. Works for me. smile

Hey, i wasn't sure where to post this, but are there any girls who wear hijab and work out in a public setting, like a gym, aerobics, or running outside? i'm about to start it and i need tips on what to do, how to wrap it etc so that i can be very comfortable.

Well, there are these 'pull'on-one pc hijabs available in most arab/desi stores nowadays. These one or two pc hijabs are much more comfortable for gym and outdoor activities. However, for different kinds of hijabs (silk cotton n the likes), you can get a headband to wear underneath them just so you don't have to fix the hijab so n so many times. As for myself, I wear hijab the way most arabs do with pins stuck here n there on my head... but it stays there for a longer period of time.
I'v seen ladies with dupattay too.. Though, that too depends on how comfortable you are wearing whatever you wear in public places.
Yeah i agree most countries where muslims reside have these facilities or if you look around or contact the muslims usually mosques or local muslim associations have this information or they can organise it if enough people are interested.

Oh,,, am I being an arse??? I was only trying to help you... I do think that there is NO problem for a bird going to a gym full of blokes. If you are in Pakistan then,,, um,, the blokes in Pakistan are, mostly, vultures when it comes to women. but if you in Europe, well, you have no problem working out with blokes. And of course, please DO NOT wear hijab I am sure you are beautyfull, don't cover it...
well wait n see u might get the all women hrs..I have never been comfortable working out in mixed gym so dont know wat to tell u but like MQ said its always better to try to find a private gym or get a bunch of girls to sign a petition for all women timing

SalmanNY, Blokes like you are the reason why Muslim girls can not feel secure out on the street or in Gyms. I am sure girls can contribute much better than blokes like you to the society. Just leave the girls alone, mate!
