It seems funny that you want to “pro and con.” If you are convinced that Islam emphasizes it, then why do you have to think twice? Islam also means submission. Life becomes so easy when one starts submitting to Allah and His directions sent to us.

If you are not convinced then do some genuine reading of Islamic books. By the way, which school of Islamic thought do you follow?

A great many things seem funny to me. i.e how the larger majority of thread participants are men. But then I live a generally amused existance. I have read “islamic books” but all things are a matter of interpretation. getting more than one point of view was the reason I opened this thread. I am sure Islam emphasises modesty - which is to say - modesty in thought and behaviour and as an extention - clothing. However - the pros and cons are becasue I do not want to rush into a decision. Its important to me and thus I want to consider it carefully.

It is exactly that list of pros taht I is making me want to take up the hijaab.
