what do you feel: should there be a maximum salary (from the club) for soccer players. one of the objectives for this might be to protect smaller clubs.
of course, additional money from adds, prizemoney etc can be left alone
just like pressing a bunch of keys on computer keyboard earns some people some big bucks.
and some people just dress up what they are given and show up on TV/fashion shows etc earns them a lot .

How much amount of time are the earnings based on.
is it 15 million a year.
Alex Rodriguez of Texas Rangers is probably the highest paid athlete in the world, he has a contract with the franchise for 120 million for 10 years.

well then i think it is Michael Schumacher, who has an estimate contract with Ferrari of 25 million dollars....on top of that he gets sponsor payments from Shell and Marlboro, his prizemoney, and accessoires bring him around 60/70 USD yearly!!!

Why is zidane paid that much ?? I mean is he a better player than Ronaldo ?

David Beckham gets paid more than Zidane or Ronaldo but he certainly not better than them and plus the endorsements and the advertisements Beckham does in UK is alot.
But I think Tiger Woods of USA is probably the highest paid athlete in the world, with his deal with Nike, and commercials, he is making alot of money. And lets not forget Micheal Jordan.
According to Forbes, 10 richest atheltes around the world in the year 2002 were
1. Michael Schumacher $59.0
2. Tiger Woods 53.0
3. Mike Tyson 48.0
4. Michael Jordan 37.0
5. Grant Hill 26.0
6. Dale Earnhardt 24.5
7. Shaquille O'Neal 24.0
8. Lennox Lewis 23.0
(tie) Oscar De Le Hoya 23.0
10. Kevin Garnett 21.0
no way. ronaldo is a great footballer. but zidane is an artist. what beauty in his game
as regards ronaldo, even luis scolari(brazil’s WC coach) said that rivaldo is better than ronaldo.

yes, he certainly is!
ronaldo is a great sportman....and during a match he peaks three or four times, and gets his goals, whereas zidane usually peaks during the course of the whole match............................................
good strikers are everywhere to be found (van nistelrooij, henry, Raul, vieri), but zidane is the last of the authentic play-makers
Thats what I don't like about Europeon Football Clubs, they don't have any limit to salary caps. So the team with most money gets the best players and best results.
I like the way America sporting franchise works, every team has a salary limit, so they can only spend limited amount of money every year, so the performance of all teams is close, and the drafts also balances out the strength of the team, so one team can't completely dominate the sport for a decade like Man U, Liverpool and Real Madrid have been doing since the 90s.

Real Madrid are LOADED.
I remember reading that Man U was the richest club in the world a couple of years ago, who is it now?
[/QUOTE]
ManU are still the richest club (as measured by their bank balance)....however if u look at the value of the players, then undoubtedly it's Real Madrid or Inter Milan.....however these clubs have large debts (Real over 100 million Euros)
How is Grant Hill in there??? and yeh i think soccer players should be paid more…Ronaldo is a better player coz he scores more goals than Zidane?? but who set up those goals for him…ZIDANE so here u go
