There is DSL aka Digital Subscriber Line. It uses your existing phone line as the transfer medium. The only problem i have with DSL is that everytime you have to go on the internet, you have to log into a VPN style dialer with your userid and password. Even though it uses your phone line, it does not interfere with your phone. You can talk and surf at the same time. Costs around $30-$40 bucks per month.
Then theres cable. Uses your existing tv cable wiring as the transfer medium. Cable is the kinda high speed internet youre probably already used to. It is on as soon as you plug the wire into your computer. Speed is the same as DSL and could be even faster depending where you live. Costs the same as DSL too, around $30-$40 bucks a month.
Dont go with the cheap guys. Go with someone who might be 5-10$ more expensive but is more reliable for sure.
Cheegum: Thanks, I am not going for DSL. I have decided for Comcast basic cable along with their high speed internet. I think I just need to visit Best Buy to score some deals regarding first 6 months etc.
Any ideas about wireless Internet? What do you need for it? just the wirless card or more? I am wondering if it's a one time payment or monthly fees?
