To my (limited) knowledge, they usually do not consider themselves to be from the elite class and view the elite class as "nouveau riche." They typically view themselves as being above the class system, which is ironic as, in reality, they are at the top of the system.

That alienation from the masses is the main characteristics of those who are in complex to consider themselves high. they sometimes, call themselves 'aristocrats', sometimes 'bureaucrat' and even some sufis who call themselves jalai also behave like this.

People cannot just randomly call themselves aristocrats, you inherit the title. Aristocracy is a second tier and extended branch of royalty.

  2. They live comfortably than poor class, but are financially lower than upper class.
  3. They all are employees (proletariates)
  4. They are being exploited.
  5. Almost all of them have recently switched to middle class, therefore, their norms are likely to be similar to that of poor class. But their kids are assured to have the distinct norms of middle class.
  6. This class is the best example of DEFERRED GRATIFICATION PATTERN , which means, postponing immediate enjoyment in order to gain a big goal!

CHARACTERISTICS OF POOR:

  1. Social mobility is the lowest in them.
  2. Rate of deviance is high in them.
  3. They are most likely to be drug/narcotics addicted.
  4. Their enjoyment or plans do not last beyond next week cinema / sea side trip, meaning, they lack long term planning.
  5. They are either unemployed, or get employment for short term basis.
  6. This class contains the highest occurrence of sub cultures as well as counter cultures. [/QUOTE] .
