please suggest some pakistan dishes that I can make for myself and hubby. both of us are keeping up with her workout routine etc but would like to add alittle bit of health side to it now. I usually make salan at home but if someone can suggest different variations of food so we don’t get bored would be great..
So far I do
Chicken tikka.
Keeme ke kabab (chicken)
All meat, fish, eggs and pulses are your friend in this case.
Meat you can roast, curry, fry, poach and serve with roast veg or salads as a side. Pulses you can make a light chaat with chick peas, make lentil soup/ curry. Serve with garlic bread or again maybe warm salad to keep low carb. Eggs are a wonderful ingredient as they're so versatile. I have added sliced boiled eggs to lentil curry which adds bulk and tastes real good :) Good luck.
Bar-B-Q any meat on open flame and it will loose its fat content drastically and then you can make salan , daal , etc with that meat.
If bbq seems lot of effort you can roast meat put in/on a pan with drain holes at the bottom so that the fat drains out. Make sure when you prepare salan for this roasted/bbqed meat , you prepare the salan completely before you add your meat othewise it will become halwa of meat. How to prepare salans ? What I do, is fry the masala of anykind in two spoons of olive oil , then I mix pre fried onions and fat free yogurt and let it simmer for few more minutes so the masala gets fried and the yogurt or dahi gets cooked and blended with masala and then I add the bbqed or roasted meat in this concoction and add water to my desired density of salan and I am done.
I have no recipes I just follow my instincts.
