Actually variation in footwear is good for your feet. You need sufficient support for the arch, thus wearing totally flat shoes all the time is not good for you…it’s comparable to wearing super high heels all the time; both aren’t recommended.
So…Monday, wear a pair of Converse, Tuesday, wear a low wedge, Wednesday, wear some ballet flats (Repetto ballet pumps ), Thursday wear a kitten heel and Friday…well…go all out on Friday with sky-scraper heels.
Like most things in life, variation is key, ergo, high heels are good for you. I have plenty of size 9’s if any of you fellas want to borrow a pair
I wear heels coz it makes me feel good...no, I don't wear them everyday...I only wear them when I know that I dnt need to walk or stand for hours while wearing them.
and Maroush is RIGHT!!! I use to wear flats for 5 days a week and my feet were aching more than I would wear heels!!!!!
Maroush, why is it that only women need this kind of a variation though? I thought the best foot wear is no footwear at all? So anything which is the closest to that is the best for your feet. The less support, the better it is for your feet.

Taking all the risk just for a pair of shoes. Just so that you can walk on two sticks, how nice.
I've never felt pain wearing a pair of heels and if I did I'd just not bother.. I don't wear them very often anyway, only for nights out and special occasions, more just because they look pretty and 'complete' an outfit rather than wanting or needing to look taller.
My SIL is only 5"1 or 2 and is really self-conscious about her height so wears heels literally all the time, nearly broke her neck coming down the stairs and has had a few falls in the kitchen as well :(
I suppose chicks (myself being one in case there is any confusion) like to:
A) feel good in them, kind of like lingerie if you will
B) are actually masochists in disguise
C) want give the illusion of length/insecurity <- this may not always be the case
D) as deeba has said "complete an outfit"
E) because heels are expected in their profession. no, i'm not talking about hookers, but say a lawyer or business-woman. flats and such do not always look the most professional.
It also depends on how often a girl wears heels. Wearing them once in a while doesn't do much harm, unless you're clumsy.
