Is it true that the more xpensive the shoe, the better quality and more comfortable it is? Any tips for slowly getting into the habit of high heels after months of wearing flipflops? Last two days I wore heels and after a few hours my feet were hurting
I dunno if its coz they’re cheapos from Payless or coz i’m not used to wearing heels for too long etc

Re: High heels..
well, its just a matter of getting used to of it. I wear high heels all the time and am fine with it. Actually i've problem with flip flops. I can't comfortably walk wearing em.
As far as pricing, yes usually expensive shoes are more comfortable but it also depends on the design. Some designs are just not very comfy.
Re: High heels..
Not to burst anyones bubble, but just thought I'd post this:
My friend did some research and this is what she found. She is a med student (Mash'Allah) and loves high-heels but wears mostly flats.
When wearing high heels, you become more prone to corns and callouses, toe nail issues, stess fractures, joint pains, hammertoes, shortening of the Achilles tendon, and more. It can also affect your posture and neuromas (Morton's Neuroma: a growth of nervous tissue usually between your third and fourth toes, usually caused by pressure or irritation).
Therefore, try to wear heels minimally and for very short periods of time, if you must wear them.
Re: High heels..

Re: High heels..
I wore shoes from Payless/Wal-mart/Target etc. all through junior high, high school, college etc. Just recently I started buying shoes from Nine West, Dilliard's, Baker's, Aldo etc. In my personal experience, there is definately a difference b/t the level of comfort in shoes from Payless/Wal-mart etc., versus shoes from Baker's/Aldo etc. When it comes to certain items, you get what you pay for.....and in my opinion, shoes are one of those items. Also, you can put those cushions in your shoes to make them more comfortable.
*The best way to get in the habit of wearing high heels is to practice. When I was in high school/college, I wanted to start wearing high heels but my feet weren't used to them and plus I had trouble walking! So I started wearing heels around the house and slowly, my feet got used to them. *:D
Re: High heels..
My house is all carpeted :(
Its weird, i had a pair of pointy toe high heel boots and I wore them alllllllll day long, could walk alot infact in them..but as soon as i got back from Pak, they've become unbearable...
Re: High heels..
try the dr scholls....messaging gel insoles.........those have helped me survive many nights...i think the ones i have are called foot cushions
Re: High heels..
There is definately a diffrence in comfort between cheap shoes and expensive shoes. Therefore, I refuse to buy cheap shoes and as such they have to be of good quality.
10 years ago I wore a cheap pair for half a day, and they destoyed my foot. Never ever again!
Re: High heels..
My parents house it carpeted too...so what? I still practiced walking in that carpet...actually, after practicing on the carpet, walking on bare ground was less stressful. :)
How long after getting back from Pak did you wear those boots again?
Re: High heels..
I wish i was shorter so that I could carry off heels
I’m like 5’11 when i wear heels, and tower over my family and friends ![]()
Even at weddings and stuff I end up heaving to wear flats ![]()
Waise i have noticed that with boots, the quality and price of the boots makes a massive difference, but in flats (including trainers), there’s no difference in the comfort factor, regardless of what you pay.
Am i the only person on Gupshup that has never paid over 40 for a pair of shoes? :o I’m such a kanjoos ![]()

Re: High heels..
I've tried both expensive and cheap shoes.....you definitely get what you pay for.
For everyday use I'd rather pay $200 for a pair and have them last and be comfortable than buy 4 pairs of cheapo shoes that hurt my feet and don't wear very well.
Re: High heels..
Sara, you may want to try wedges instead of heels to ease your way into getting back into from wearing flip-flops. They are more comfortable than regular heeled shoes. The good thing is that they are in-style these days! :)
Re: High heels..
Not for long…stilletos are back.
Re: High heels..
The only truly comfortable heels that I ever had were Bruno Magli, far more pricey than I could ever afford to buy regularly (I got them at NYC's "Lighthouse Sale" one year long ago). Anyway, the thing about them was that they were actually shaped like a foot! The toes were rounded rather than those nasty pointed toes. The heels were a bit fatter and slightly curved toward the middle of the shoe which gave extra arch support. Of course they were leather too which makes a big difference. Shoes made of man-made plastics dont let any air in and they trap moisture so your feet sweat more and tend to swell more. I cant tell you how I enjoyed those shoes! Anyway, best to look for this type of shoe - foot shaped, arch support and leather.
