I would ask a general but direct question: Do you have something you want to tell me? or Do you have something you do not want to tell me?
It depends on the answer what I might do.
Example:
If answer is "Nothing" ..with a smile.
I will stop. And will wait for her to tell me later. Will not forget though.
If answer is Nothing. Why? (Serious gesture)
I will continue to press the issue.
Whats the worst thing that can happen?
And if it is worst thing then so be it. Let it come out.
